Questions & Answers

Why can't I find any for just $2 on the market? 98? Lynn?

It's a good price, and I get three or four refills out of it, so you won't find a better deal anywhere.

For topwater fishing, which color line is best? lo-vis gold vis clear, clear/blue, or clear/green fl. ?

It doesn't matter what color you use, in my experience. Because the water is constantly changing, what you can see in one location may not be visible in another. I usually stick to clear and am perfectly happy with it.

Trilene is my preferred material, but many products appear to be out of stock. Stren hasn't lasted long for me in the past (it gets brittle quickly), so I'm hoping for the best. To be fair, I landed the biggest silver crappie of my life (16 inches) today after a battle in a submerged brush pile, and the line didn't chafe or break, so if it lasts as long as Trilene, I might add a star.

You'll need blue line, which ties knots well and lays on the spool like no other line I've used, but the best part is that it can be seen clearly out of the water
5/5

It fluoresces as if it were lit from within, but it is completely submerged in the water. Even though the water in northeast Minnesota is crystal clear, the line cannot be seen once it has been submerged. It stretches quite a bit, so you'll have to decide whether this is a feature you want or don't want. The 8lb test is strong, and I believe it is quite strong for its weight rating based on how hard I have to pull to break the line or defeat my knot once I've hooked the bottom. br>br>I know, this is pretty subjective information, but the color of the line makes it so easy to manage the line out of the water while tying knots and other things that I love it just for that. Stop reading reviews and go fishing instead. Stren offers a few rebates from time to time, so keep an eye out for them. You could get as much as $2 per spool or a nearly free hat with rebate coupons from the Stren website.

STREN LOW VIS GREEN STREN STREN STREN STREN STREN STREN STREN STREN STREN I've been using this product for a long time and have had great success with it
5/5

1. The main reason I use it is that it is difficult for fish to see; or I've had great success with it in terms of catching.
2. It has a large amount of storage space.
3. The test strength is higher than the rated value.
4. For years, the price has been reasonable, and it continues to be so.
5. Bird nests are common with bait cast reels, but the line's excellent memory prevents this from being a problem. br> It's not going to get stuck. br>Right now, I'm fishing with the 10 pound and it held a 30 inch spot tail bass (red drum) for twenty minutes while I played the fishbr>around all kinds of obstacles before landing him. I dragged that fish up a 20-degree incline bank, and the line stayed in place. br>I had to chase this fish for about 60 yards before I was able to get him under control. br>I'm not going to use any other brand of line than Stren!.

This is still my favorite line
5/5

In my opinion, it is still the best. Since I was old enough to buy my own fishing gear, I've used Stren lines. My son prefers yellow, whereas I prefer clear blue. In any type of water, either one works well. I like the blue because it makes me believe the fish can't see it, but my son catches just as many, if not more, fish than me. br>br>From now on, I'll be calling Stren my main line.

Bluegill fishing is a lot of fun
5/5

For bluegill fishing, this is the line to use. I'm thinking about putting up a pole for the grandchildren. For the past 60 years, I've been using it. Great value and long-lasting.

This line has helped me catch a lot of fish, and it's not available in stores
3/5

This line type has been around for a long time. It does not appear to be florescent, though, as I recall. Perhaps I'm the only one who notices this. However, I used various line weights to fill several different reels.

Monofilament's gold standard
5/5

For years, I've used only Stren Clear Blue Fluorescent monofilament on my reels. Because I usually fish the Tennessee River system's reservoirs (which aren't particularly clear), I've always preferred the Clear Blue Fluorescent color over the regular "clear" color because it's much easier for me to see the line. I had a bad experience with Trilene years ago and haven't used anything but Stren for monofilament since. Line, like most other aspects of fishing, is a personal choice, but I've always been happy with Stren Original monofilament. The only other fishing line I have a similar fondness for is Spiderwire Stealth braided line, and I have yet to find a fluorocarbon line that I do not dislike. To be fair, I don't fish a lot of extremely clear water, so I haven't spent a lot of time fishing fluorocarbon. (The Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon, on the other hand, is essentially garbage. ) ) I've listed some of my line/size preferences for various techniques below (please note that I'm not Bill Dance, and this review is only worth what I was paid for it, which was nothing). br>br>Cork Rigs for Spawning Channel Cats = 8 lb Stren or 30 lb Spiderwire Stealthbr>Texas Rig for Bass = 50 lb Spiderwire Stealthbr>Carolina Rig for Bass = 40 lb Spiderwire Stealthbr>Texas Rig for Bass = 50 lb Spiderwire Stealthbr>Texas Rig for Bass = 40 lb Spiderwire Ste Topwaters for Rockfish (Hybrid Stripers) = 17 lb Stren monobr>Buzzbaits = 17 lb Stren monobr>Spinnerbaits = 14 lb Stren monobr>Lipless Crankbaits (Rattletraps) = 10 lb Stren monobr>Most versatile (baitcast) = 10 lb Stren monobr>Most versatile (spinning) =.

Great, no problem; the kid loves the line; I used it when I was younger, and it's great.
