We've only used it on sharks in the past 30 years. To control while fishing with children, use a 40-pound size. The hook is razor-sharp and easily penetrates even the toughest shark skin. When fully extended, it's surprising how powerful it is. It flexes slightly but does not appear to be on the verge of snapping. We've already caught three sharks with it, and we're hoping to keep doing so for a long time! So far, there has been no rusting or wear from the salt water. For the casual angler who wants to keep large fish under control, this is a must-have item.

It only lasted a few uses before it broke. Increase the size of your project. The larger one I bought lasted a year of hard fishing before the extensions broke. The second time around, I bought the smaller one, and it broke the second time I used it. I only catch fish up to 35 pounds, but I catch a lot of them. So either go bigger or don't bother, in my opinion.

After purchasing a larger boat, I decided that a gaff was required for larger species (mahi, tuna, and striped bass). To begin with, the picture quality is outstanding. The ridged handle is comfortable to hold. This thing was so light that I couldn't believe it. What's great about this gaff is that it can be extended, making it safe to use on windy days. Second, at the current price, this gaff is a steal; if you're in the market for a new gaff, take a look at this one. I'm very pleased and impressed!.

The segment that connects to the hook isn't static, which I don't like. Although it extends, it does not lock into place. To keep it from moving, I used loctite to glue it in place. I'm also disappointed that the hook is already rusting after each use, despite the fact that I rinse it in freshwater after each use.

The gaff is of good quality, sturdy, and compact; however, the rubber protective cap is ineffective. It's too short, and it falls off because it doesn't fit the sharp point snugly. A safety cover would be ideal, but the one you receive will not suffice, so you'll have to come up with another solution.

After each use, check to see if it's still tight. It has a great reach! It's quite long, and the hook is quite strong! It's capable of carrying a significant amount of weight! Because I misplaced the hook end's protective cap, I'll have to be extra cautious about where I keep it. incredibly acute!.
