Questions & Answers
I've never attempted it, but I have my doubts.
The hook section is approximately 6" long and the shaft is 6' long. So total height is 6'6". When standing on the boat and reaching out to gaff fish from a distance of several feet, the length is impressive.
From point to shaft, the width is three inches. I have had no problems using it on large fish.

The price is low, but the 6ft version is longer. The hook part of this version is much thinner and weaker metal than the 4ft version. Gaffing mahimahi or dolphin fish causes the sharp tips to bend. I did catch a 200 pound marlin with two gaffs that didn't bend out, so I guess it's worth it. Just keep in mind that a single gaff on a 1-pound marlin can bend out. 200 pounds of tuna or marlin.

I bought the 4', which will work fine on my boat and is of higher quality than I had anticipated. The spring cover came off without a hitch. When putting it on, I discovered that if I give it a slight twist, it will stay tighter for longer.
I bought it as a gift for a boy friend, and he adores it. It is made to be durable and well-made, according to the manufacturer.
Excellent value for money.
Excellent product.
It has a pleasant ambiance to it. It has a high-end feel to it. This is why I didn't give it a five-star rating. The tip guard does not stay in place. It's something I'd buy again in a heartbeat.
