Is this jacket straight or does it have a slight cut in the waist? By looking at the photos, I'm not sure. ?

I believe it's possible, but only in a minor way. I purchased this in a size larger than I require so that I can layer it with a fleece jacket. I really like this jacket and find it to be very versatile; it works well as a windbreaker and is the best rain jacket I've ever owned. It was money well spent in my opinion.

Is there a brim on the hood?

On the hood, there is a small brim. Great jacket, I got it a size up so I can layer it with a fleece jacket if it starts to rain in the early spring and you need some extra warmth.

The quality of the work is a bit lacking. On a few spots on the jacket, there are score marks or sewing needle tracks. The fit is true to size; I usually wear a large, but I ordered an XL so that I could layer underneath and still have plenty of room. I like the color as well, but the jacket's workmanship has left me a little disappointed.
