Soft and silky to the touch

These pants are perfect for me because they are so comfortable and soft. The elastic in the waist band is uncomfortable and cuts into my sides, which is my only complaint about them. I need to stretch them out a little more at the waist band, but I don't see how I can remove the elastic that holds the drawstring in place because it's sewn to the fabric.
