I was about a 285-pounder with an XL belt, so you can say I was an XL Powerlifter build and I finally decided to lean out after injuries, car accidents, spinal problems, rehab, recovery, and now it was time to focus on bodybuilding mode and just dropping weight. What a great belt this is. It has been only one day that I have used it, but so far it seems to work great! I thought it would be too much, but it is much easier to tighten than a simple Velcro or roller type belt, and it is much more comfortable than There is a lip on the end of the belt which prevents it from falling off completely, so I think you can loosen it as much as you need without it falling off, but I just loosen it enough to not be restrictive and so that I can easily rest comfortably. It's also okay to put the latch on your side all the time. You won't have to worry about hitting it on your oly lifts, nor will it dig into your belly if you happen to be doing a WOD where you a) The belt will get a slight permanent set until the curve of your body matches, so I would suggest finding a place where your buckle should go (side) and keeping it there, rather than switching it back and forth. I was worried about the sizing since my belly gets smaller when I pull it in tight, but their sizing worked out fine for me.
