Both of these can be used. There's a plastic sleeve that goes over a 1" bar that's 2". Just remove the sleeve when you want to go from 1" to 2".

The bench looked great online, but when my husband put it together, it was wobbly. There is an issue with the bolts at all three pivot points The joints are too loose, so there is a lot of play. The threads of two bolts are exposed, so you are at risk of catching a finger. As part of the bad packing, the leg curl has a restricted range of motion. Additionally, the seat pad didn't line up with the back pad and the seat pad has a small tear on it.

The one I received came with everything except for a few screws that look the same but that can have serious implications if placed in the wrong spot. Bench itself is great for regular bench and decline, but its limitations are very apparent when you use it as an incline or decline bench. There is no wobbling and it operates Although it has an annoying large screw that touches the inside of my thigh, I bought a plastic soft screw cover at HD for 70 cents at the store and it worked very well. Overall, I am very satisfied with the machine, but I would have liked it if the screw cover came with it.
Considering the price of this item, I would say that it is a decent buy however, the back is too short to support my head and the feet are too small. The device is a bit wobbly when used. As a member of your household, I would spend a little more and purchase a more sturdy item. This is getting more and more annoying the more I use it. ****UPDATE***
The more I use it, the more I want to throw it away. I just can't use it because its base is too small. If you are not very small, then it is pretty much useless and rocks to and fro when in use. Not only is the back support not very stable, but also the front support is weak. If you don't want this, just buy something else instead.
The rigidity of this product is excellent. One of the factors preventing a full leg curl is that you cannot use all your muscles There is no further movement after it stops at a 90 degree angle. As a safety measure, I would also like to see a pin attached to hold the leg pads in place when in a decline position. I think it's an excellent piece of equipment, though.
