Questions & Answers

Is the rack large or medium in size?

It isn't as wide as you might find in a gym. My husband, who weighs 220 pounds, says it suits him well.

Would I be able to squat with this if I was 5'2"?

Maybe. Although I am 5'10", the squat bar does not sit high enough for me to position myself beneath it. To be sure, look at the measurements.

What are the tools I'll need to assemble it?

a set of adjustable wrenches or sockets, and a few screwdrivers Easy to put together, with clear instructions and hardware.

Is there a flat position on the bench, or does it only incline?

It is both flat and incline.

What you pay for is exactly what you get
3/5

This bench is suitable for a beginner, but it has two significant flaws in my opinion. The first issue is that it isn't very sturdy. If you go heavy and rack your weight, the rack will easily tip over. To keep the rack from moving too much, I had to add weights to it. The second major issue is that you can't really take a wide stance because your fingers will hit the side of the barbell when you rack it. If you try to rack the barbell while benching and hit the sides of the post, you could seriously injure yourself; if you want to squat on this rack, forget it; it's too low to the ground; it's adjustable, but it doesn't go up that high. This will be a major issue if you are tall; however, if you are under five feet nine, it may not be an issue. Although mine arrived damaged, the bench that comes with it is adequate. The bench's fabric had been ripped. Because it's made of cheap box particle material, you can hear the bench cracking if you lift a lot of weight. You get what you pay for, but I'm sure you could get a better one for a little more money at Dicks Sporting Goods or somewhere else.

It was significantly less expensive than anticipated
3/5

After 20 years of lifting, it gave me my first injury. It's not difficult to put together, but it's much less expensive than I anticipated. This could be beneficial for teenagers or people who do not lift more than 225 pounds. Adults over 5'10" will find the dimensions to be inadequate. Anyone using a standard grip will get their hands caught between the bar and the rack because the squat rack is too low and the bench rack is too narrow. This is how it went the first time I used it. Engineering is a joke.

Although well-built, it is not suitable for tall individuals
3/5

I was really looking forward to using this bench and rack at first, but after a few uses, I realized it had some flaws. I'm 5'9" and the rack is a little too small for me, and you can't adjust the position of the barbell for bench press. There is one fixed position that is too low for my height/reach, making lifting heavy weights from the rack difficult when your arms are halfway bent. My 11-year-old son finds it to be the ideal height. The squat rack's highest setting is again a little too low; I have to bend down far too far to lift the weight off the top rack. I'm going to try to fix these problems by raising the entire rack and adding some concrete 1-inch thick. 2 inch supports under it, but the bench press will be too high for my son otherwise. I wish the bench press rack was adjustable so that people of various heights and body types could use it. I believe it is made for short people, but it appears to be of good quality and long-lasting.

Bench press is a little awkward
3/5

I don't usually write reviews, but this one is necessary because I never read in any of the other reviews before purchasing this that the bench press could not be adjusted in height. br>br>We purchased this to use at home for bench pressing and back squats. My husband and I are both 5'7" in height. Taller people, I don't believe, would be able to use it. I just used it for bench press for the first time, and it's incredibly awkward; I did standard bench press with the bench flat, and the bar CANNOT be adjusted for bench press. You can adjust that part when doing back squats, but the bench press rack is not adjustable. (Which is a truly baffling design. ) ) I'll give back squats another go because I think this thing can handle them, but I'm not sure I'll use it for bench press again. br>br>I wouldn't buy it again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Durable and compact
5/5

So far, I'm enjoying it. It's not bad for the price, and it's fairly durable for someone who weighs less than 200 pounds. However, the seat and back bench are thin, and if you sit near the edges, you can hear wood cracks, so don't put too much pressure on the bench's edges. It is small enough to fit in a corner of a room, such as an office. It took me an hour to construct, and you will need a socket tool set as well as a wrench.

It was a complete waste of both time and money
3/5

This was purchased for use in my home gym and is extremely small. You won't be able to use this if you're taller than 5'. This appears to be aimed at children. To pick up or place weights on the squat rack, you must stoop to a low level. Also, the space between where you lie and where you lift and place the weights on the bench is so small that you can easily injure yourself. In addition, the welding work on this site is so bad that it's frightening. I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with this. I'll probably have to sell it or give it away to make room for a larger one. It was a huge waste of money.

Very unsteady and dangerous
3/5

It was disappointing. This was purchased for my son as a present. He and I attempted to assemble it, but quickly discovered that none of the nuts screwed all the way in to tighten, implying that not a single part of the apparatus is stable, making the whole thing extremely dangerous. We tried everything we could think of, including using pliers on my son, who is a strong young man, but nothing worked. None of the screws go all the way in; the only one goes about a quarter of the way in, exposing half of the screw and leaving the parts loose. I never imagined a piece of weight lifting equipment could be so unstable, but it is. The whole thing is on the verge of collapsing. We followed the instructions to the letter, but given the price, this is a major disappointment; if the nuts had worked properly, this would have been an excellent purchase. They need to either make the screws shorter or improve the nuts so that they screw all the way in. I'm stuck with it and very upset because I can't afford to return such a large piece of equipment.

Improvements to the budget It was simple and quick to put together
4/5

For the quality of the rack and bench, the cost was reasonable. The bench seat is a little wobbly while pressing, but it's not noticeable. The rack is moderately stable on its own, but it may need to be weighed down if the weight exceeds 135 pounds. Placing additional weight plates on the rack's base feet is one quick way to stabilize it. I chose to use sandbags (50 pounds per bag) because I was a broke student. It is both inexpensive and efficient (in terms of safety). looks). Pillowcases could be used to dress up the sandbags. br>br>I'm looking forward to hearing some of your innovative suggestions for improving the setup. br>Thank you very much.
