They do include spikes and are suitable for all field events. My son competes in long jump and 400/200 meter relays, and he claims he doesn't feel like he's wearing shoes. This was an excellent purchase. You're not going to go down without a fight.
I'd recommend going up a size from your normal shoe size. They appeared to be small when I first received them, but they were the perfect fit for me.

So, I have obnoxiously large feet, size 13 wide, and these shoes fit perfectly because they are entirely made of mesh. I didn't have to go up in size because I ordered a size 13. The spike plate is stiff enough to impact your technique without being too stiff. It's better to have a stiffer plate, but only if you already have good form. If you tighten the spikes properly, they will not come loose. They also have a fantastic appearance.
I really like the shoe's style and design. I forgot that NB runs a little larger than standard sizing, but I still wear them and have no problems with them.
It's about two sizes smaller than it should be. I'm not able to wear these.

To keep my plantar fasciitis at bay, I needed a sturdy shank. The boot has a snug fit and a strong arch.
They are a big hit with my son. Very relaxing.
