As well as you, I have the same issue! Tomorrow I will attempt to air it more per instructions, but right now there is no way it will reach 65 degrees, and it won't work otherwise. If it won't air up to 65 degrees, I will have to return it and rebuy it in 75 degrees.

When removing the pump nozzle and inserting the plug, you will need to be as quick as possible. Inflating the ball quickly leads to deflation. Due to my 30 weeks of pregnancy and the fact that I am preparing for birth, I decided to use it both as an exercise ball and birthing ball. We received the stability ring and ball quickly, and the instructions were simple to understand. It was a little frustrating not to be able to use the yoga ball right away, because you have to fill it up partially then let it sit for a day before blowing it up the rest of the way. I didn't know that that was a normal thing with yoga balls. All of the pieces worked without any problems for me, including the pump. The product has so far been used to stretch my back (great to relieve back and hip pain in pregnancy) and to work out, and I am satisfied.

Getting this for my son was because our old ball was too small for the desk when he sat at it for school. The ball was just the right size to fit the desk, but he didn't have his feet on the ground, so it was too big for him. The pump that comes with it is not very good. Since it is inflatable, I couldn't get air in it, and when some did come out, it kept getting caught around the edges. I can see your point if the pump is available elsewhere, but the one offered here has too many holes in it and is not either a hand pump or a foot It does not work for me, I am not sure what it is. The ball and pump are being sent back for a replacement.
