"To measure 105 Resin and 205 or 206 Hardener by weight or volume, combine five parts resin with one part hardener," according to the West System instructions for mixing. To determine the volume of 105 Resin and 207 or 209 Hardener, mix three parts resin and one part hardener (by weight, 3. 5 gallons of resin 1 part hardener + 1 part hardener + 1 part hardener + 1
I don't think there's any reason why it shouldn't be done, George. Because I'm unfamiliar with the construction process for your project, I'll offer my observations.
1. If the plywood will be placed underground and will not be exposed to the sun, the 205 hardener can be used because UV exposure will not be a problem.
2. There are a couple of options if some or all of it will be exposed to the sun. The first step is to use the 205 or 206 hardener (the 205 sets faster than the 206, and they also have a 209 hardener for extremely hot climates). All you have to do now is tint the epoxy with some resin colorant(1-1). 2% max. or use a good UV-blocking exterior paint to cover the exposed areas. For better bonding, scotchbrite pads or steel wool should be used to scuff the epoxy after it has cured. If you plan on using this grow bed indoors, you won't have to worry about UV damage. A greenhouse in the open air? You, on the other hand, are probably more knowledgeable than I am on the subject. 3. br>lolbr> If you want your plywood to be exposed in its natural state, West has a 207 hardener with a built-in UV block. It's mixed at a 3-minute rate. Instead of the 5-to-1 ratio, there is a 1-to-9 ratio. As a result, you'll need a special pump or hardener for that can. If your budget allows, it's probably not a bad idea to get a can of each. The 105 resin's pump does not need to be replaced, and the 207 resin will cost a little more because you're buying more hardener in the can, so the two cans should empty out at the same rate. Although the West is not inexpensive, my motto has always been to "buy the best and cry once." br>br>Sanding the plywood with a belt sander with a grit of maybe 100 will also help the epoxy bond better to the wood. West Systems epoxy was created for bonding to wood and is widely used for marine hulls and interiors, both with and without fiberglass reinforcement, so you've made a good choice. The resin has a shelf life of up to 20 years, and the hardeners have a shelf life of at least 5 or 6 years, so don't worry about buying too much because you'll be using this product for a variety of projects around the house and shop. I'd spend the $11 on the pumps because they make precise measuring so much easier. I wish you the best of luck with your endeavor.
West proposes a range of 350 to 400. 405 square feet per gallon of 105-degree water You didn't say how wide it is, if it's 5/4", or if it's tongue and groove. 3 gal should be enough for three sides and ends, but this is just my opinion. Following good surface prep, any decent exterior stain, and adequate drying conditions and time, exposed surfaces will require uv protection that does not compromise traction in rain and snow after curing.

When it arrived, the can appeared to have been sat on by something very heavy. The top's small handle had been smashed flat, and the sides had collapsed. The cardboard box, on the other hand, was in perfect condition. This means that the shattered and damaged can was placed in a damaged box and shipped. Amazon was kind enough to send a replacement that wasn't damaged the next day. However, it happened again on a subsequent order of 207 hardener. The cardboard box was in good condition, but the can inside had been severely damaged. Why is it so difficult to avoid shipping a damaged item in a box? These days, Amazon is losing ground. br>br>In terms of the resin, it's West 105. It performs exactly as it should. I would strongly advise purchasing the pumps in order to make the ratios as simple as pressing a button on a pump.
I use West Systems epoxy and hardeners a lot in my woodworking, especially when I'm making live edge tables with a lot of gaps and seams to fill in. I use this in conjunction with Black Diamond powders and have been pleased with the results for several years. The epoxy is simple to work with, particularly if you purchase the pump system. When it comes to measuring, it's a no-brainer. The cost is reasonable, and the quality of the work is consistently excellent. This is a product that I wholeheartedly endorse.
It's a fantastic epoxy for so many projects that I couldn't possibly list everything I've repaired or built with it! br>I primarily use it for high-powered rocketry builds, but I've discovered that it's also useful for a variety of other projects. It is foolproof for mixing correctly when used with the meter pump kit.
Measure carefully, work quickly, and keep your fills shallow (1/4" /-) when using this product to fill deep voids in locust. If you go too deep, you'll either get bubbles or cracks on the bottom. The next pour may fill the cracks, but the bubbles will remain until you chase them down, which is not pleasant. We found that applying a thin coat of paint with a brush to the bottoms of the voids that appeared to be prone to bubbles was helpful. However, this isn't the case everywhere, which is intriguing. Keep in mind that the temperature of the mixed resin is affected by the surrounding environment. When it's hot outside, the mix will pick up speed. You'll Have Less Time. br>Overall, there's a lot of clarity. For a brief moment, life is sweet because the customer is pleased with the finished product.
This was used to make a pontoon boat out of styrofoam. It dries to a rock-hard consistency. Although there are many epoxies available, I chose this one for some reason. I'm glad I took the opportunity.
If Jimmy DiResta and Matt Cremona think it's good, I think it's good. To fill large cracks in oak slabs, I used the slow hardener with a black tint. It's simple to work with, planes down smoothly, and sticks to the wood well. It was the pump system that initially drew me in. There's no waste when you make any size batch!.
BUYING ON AMAZON IS NOT RECOMMENDED! I wish I had read more reviews. br>br> Around the can, Amazon uses no packing material. It is almost certain that your can will be dented. br>br>Because I'm conscious of my carbon footprint, I can't bear returning it. The contents are fine, but I'll be staring at a dented can for the next several years.
They're also quick to respond to technical questions. The company is well-known and has received numerous awards for its quality and leadership. Why should you accept second best?.
