I think it will work just fine. Grease the threads by dabbing some grease on them. It is not necessary to screw the entire thing into the wall. This has been a great accessory for several Merc V-type vehicles I've used it on It has been two years since I got my 6's. It's well made, looks good, and is also very well made. This is what I've made up when I worked at a machine shop. I have used all of them and all of them worked well. It was the only one that looked good.

To go with my Mercury 150 4 stroke, I got this lifting ring and matching plate. I appreciate the fit and finish, and I am impressed by the quality and strength of the overall product. Though this will cost a few dollars more than cheaper lifting eyes, I feel my money was well spent as I will have these for a long time.

Fitted a 2001 Mercury 125, but not a 2002 Mercury I am very impressed with the quality of the product

All aspects of the system are solid. Unfortunately, it only goes in a few turns on my Mercury 125 of 2001. A great job has been done with the threading of the flywheel. Due to the tight tolerances, it can be hit or miss for your application, even if others have However, I would still recommend it.

Though the tool itself is extremely well made, I am unable to use it

It is a well-made tool, but it would not lift my motor as ordered. Therefore, I can only give this tool four stars. To fit over my flywheel nut, I had to take it to a machine shop to have the center bore opened up 3mm more. Except for that, the tool worked like a charm.
