For kayakers, this is a must-have item. This year, I spent some of my best money on fishing gear. I can keep the fish in the water while I unhook them and set up the camera with these grips. I then lift them out for a quick photograph before returning them to their original position. These will allow me to pull water through the fish's gills and ensure that he is healthy enough to swim away. This also prevents you from touching their slime coat, which may cause infection or parasitism in the fish. In my kayak, I prefer to use this over a net. If you're on the fence, it's well worth the money.
After using a friend's fish grip to safely handle a rambunctious smallmouth bass caught on a treble hook lure, I decided to purchase my own. It would be even better if the jaws were spring loaded, allowing you to land a fish without having to pry them open. Overall, this is a good product.
They're fantastic; I wish I had purchased a pair sooner! I like that you can return the fish to the water while keeping them calm.
It's impossible to find fault with it. This grip gives me a little more freedom because I know my fish is safe. When you need an "extra hand," it comes in handy.
It's simple to use and strong enough to let fish float alongside the kayak while it's being weighed. I have yet to lose a fish.
When you lip a fish, they floot if you drop them, unlike other metal gripers, and they don't seem to tear the fish's lips up nearly as badly as my metal gripers do.
It does exactly what it says. There's a spot where you can hook up your fish weighing scale. If you're in moving water, the Bungee ball could be useful. Because it floats, it's not a big deal if you drop it in still or slow-moving water. When you tighten it, it pinches at the pinching point, as others have mentioned. I wouldn't be concerned about the fish; you've already inserted a few hooks into their mouths, and I'm sure they'll be fine. Just make sure you don't grab a chunk of their mouth.
It's great for securing large fish and getting hooks out of their mouths. It works as advertised and is simple to use.
