Questions & Answers

What exactly is the weight of the paddle? I'm guessing the shipping weight (including packaging) is higher than the product weight. ?

If the box package is worth a pound, I'd say take a pound off. When you receive it, it will be in pieces, which you must assemble.

Are these paddles suitable for my height of 5'7"?

Paddles that are superior to the competition. light, and they've held up well after spending the winter outside.

Is a 14' aluminum boat heavy enough?

That is something I would never do. I use it for a fishing kayak that is 10 feet long. My regular kayak, however, has a Werner touringbr>Paddle. You might be able to get away with it on a calm lake, but I wouldn't trust it in choppy water.

FOR THE MONEY, THIS IS AN EXCELLENT LIGHT WEIGHT AND DRY RUNNING PADDLE
5/5

Before leaving for Hawaii, I purchased three kayaks but decided to hold off on purchasing paddles. My paddles get a lot of use (at least twice a day) because I can kayak across Pearl Harbor to work five days a week. First, I overspent on another carbon fiber paddle, which is very nice but drips from the end that is up in the air. I paddle to work in my kayak, so I don't want salt water on my lunch tote, shirt, or shorts (yeah, I'm a nerd). Here, I work in my shorts! So I bought two of these cheaper-looking Attwood paddles for the second and third yaks, just in case anyone else wanted to use them. Today was the first time I attempted one of our harbor crossings and WOW! I wish I hadn't squandered my hard-earned cash on that pricey paddle. These feel just as light, if not lighter, than the more expensive version, and at 6'1", I found the length to be ideal for me. If I had to guess, I'd say this would work for someone 5' tall or up to 6'5" tall. One advantage was that it was a very dry paddle to run with. At the top of the stroke, there should be no dripping. It also gave me a decent and powerful stroke, in my opinion. I'd even go so far as to say it's superior to the expensive one I purchased. I ended up leaving this one on the west side of Pearl Harbor where I keep my kayak without fear of it being stolen because it is relatively inexpensive and easy to replace. This is a paddle that I would strongly suggest.

The grips are fantastic, and the size of the paddle ends is perfect
5/5

This paddle is one of my favorites. I like this paddle because of the grips, the size, and the white color. If this one breaks, I'll most likely order the same paddle again. This is long enough for me to keep up with most people, even though I am a girl: ) The lovely paddle had a teeny-tiny plastic end that wasn't up to the task. I'd rather have something that is functional than something that is attractive. The other paddle is being returned, while this one is being kept. br>br>Used a few more times for short trips of a few hours. THIS PADDLE MAKES ME VERY HAPPY. Better than the paddles that came with the California Board Company Kayak I purchased, as well as the other $50 to $60 paddles I've tried. I'm going to get a carbon fiber because I was blown away when I grabbed my friends and the weight difference was actually quite noticeable, but this paddle is a fantastic deal. It's still lightweight, and the paddle ends are a good size.

There were no issues with the paddle
5/5

I've spent hours paddling with it and can't say enough good things about it: the grips are comfortable, it floats, it's adjustable, detachable, and it's inexpensive. I bought two and had a friend convert her old paddle to one of them.

It's wet and heavy
3/5

Pros: br>* Made me realize how important it is to invest in a better paddle. br>* Can be used as a back-up paddle. br>* The pieces don't fall apart. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>* It's far too heavy, especially for anything that lasts longer than an hour. br>* Because the connection is loose in the middle, it jiggles in your hands. There isn't enough to be a major issue, but there is enough to be a minor issue. br>* You can't use this thing without getting wet. It transports a large amount of water. I can't imagine trying to use this without a spray skirt; you'd be bilging a lot. br>br>This is a waste of money. Spend a little more and you'll get a better product.

A sloppy fit is caused by a loose ferrule
3/5

First and foremost, to all of the reviewers who complain that the paddle is too short, DID YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION? It's exactly the length that's stated. DO NOT PURCHASE A 7-FOOT PADDLE IF IT IS TOO SHORT. Stop leaving reviews that demonstrate a lack of reading ability. It is unjust to both the manufacturer and the seller. br>br>However, this paddle is exactly the right size. There was no knock. The snap ferrule connection, on the other hand, is a significant flaw in this paddle. It connects easily and allows for positioning adjustments, but the loose fit means the paddle has too much movement at the connection and is unlikely to be durable as a result. br>br>Because it'll be our fourth paddle, we decided to keep it. It will only be used on rare occasions or as a fallback. This means that, for the price we paid, it's worth it to us; however, don't expect to find a high-quality paddle for $30. We believe we received exactly what we paid for and are satisfied with our purchase. Your results may vary. br>br>.

Awesome
4/5

This is a fantastic and affordable item. People, I believe, are attempting to inflate the price of the paddles for no reason. It forces water to flow in a certain direction. just the way it's supposed to be. There are some out there for exorbitant prices when you could get this for a fraction of the price. This is a paddle for a regular person. The paint on the handle scratches easily, and the water catchers slide around a lot, but I've used this a lot since buying it, and none of those flaws have had an impact on how much I've used it.

Paddles are working well
5/5

These paddles came in a set of two for me. We go on "float" trips with the kids, which entails recreational paddling on a calm river or in the lake's backwaters. br>These paddles are much more durable than I had anticipated. They appear to be of reasonable quality for a paddle that will be used only a few times per month during the summer. They're used by the kids, and so far there haven't been any complaints. The paddle's two halves are well-aligned, with very little wiggle from end to end. Although these are not professional paddles, I am completely satisfied with them as a weekend warrior. I'll buy the same ones again if they ever need to be replaced. br>Way to go, Attwood, for providing an affordable, well-built product for the average person!!.

Adults may find it a little short
3/5

I'll give them credit for being well-made budget paddles. I'm not sure if this is a fair review, but I'll give it a shot. They're too short for my kayak and build (but they're fantastic for kids). I'm 5'9" and weigh 150 pounds, with a size 10 shoe. I have to make them go very verticle to get good contact with the water because I have 5 perception sound. Water gets into the kayak when they do this. They may be ideal for some, but given my circumstances, I'll opt for a longer paddle and keep these for the kids.
