This is a chrome-plated brass item.

Should there be an internal through hull installed or can the intake be external (e.g. ?

The piece just connects the hose to your machine. It is important to have a pump and plumbing to connect to this piece of equipment. During manufacture, there was no thought to the thru hulls.

How does the 3/4" female thread look like? Is it a npt nfs BSP?

Typical female thread you would find at a Lowe's store for galvanized plumbing. Not much to see here. Lowe's provided everything I needed for my pipe fitting project, even though I'm not a pipe fitter.

I like the piece a lot, but do make sure you get the right I ended up choosing this over the Perko at half the price

I have it installed on my center console for The boat I bought came with a Perko one at the stern that's used for saltwater washdowns, which uses the standard 65-volt battery At Boat Owners Warehouse I can easily get cent-size NPT fittings. IPT (Iron Pipe Thread) is used on this item, as indicated in the description, so not the fault of the retailer. In the end, the NPT fitting I initially purchased did not work and I needed to return to Home Depot to purchase the 1/2" MIP (Male Iron Pipe) to 1/2" barb I needed. Overall, it looks great after all the dust has settled. As opposed to just a hose coming out of the faucet as I had before.

It looks like the fixture is in good condition Despite its lightweight design, the cap is weak

There is no sign of any problems with the fixture, and it does everything it should. This is normal. Although the cap is thin and flimsy, it does the job. The cap is unlikely to last very A stainless steel, or at least a brass cap, would be nice.
