The braided lines made by Scotty are commonly substituted for stainless steel cables to be used with downriggers. Dyneema Downrigger Line is called downrigger line. So there's no reason not to use it. Although the SS cable travels through the terminator in a way that makes it difficult to pull out, I have my doubts about braided line since it doesn't kink during travel. My first step would be to contact Scotty and see what they recommend for termination with their line.
I do not know how large the diameter of 7 strand wire is, but I believe the grooves in the terminator will accommodate about a pencil lead size cable. It's my pleasure to help! It is Steve

The joke is on you! Having the idea is great, but installing it is a total pain. The process of adding two crimps and a thimble is so quick and easy. It takes time to do these things, so it's not worth.
It was fraying where the old terminator was connected to the wire. The order was easy, the replacement was easy, and I was back to fishing again! I'm with you!.
These are a pair I bought. Since the first one fell apart in the process of putting it together, I have low expectations for the one.

These Cannon terminator singles replaced an original piece of equipment perfectly and are very easy to install. They are now working This relatively inexpensive price is well worth the investment in order to prevent that $30 downrigger weight from disappearing due to old worn-out parts. The ones I have are always the ones I use with my Canon riggers, and I always carry a few spares. My life would not be the same if I used anything else.
