My wiring cable has an outer diameter of 1/16" and I need to connect it. Does my butt connector need to be a certain size?

An inch and a sixteenth is approximately the same size. (between 17 gauge and 16 gauge) 16 gauge wire. In order for 16 gauge wire to be used properly, you would need the appropriate butt connector.

Do you have a recommendation for converting 2 gage to 1 gauge 4 gauge cable? There are other kits that work but I can't seem to get them to ?

Unfortunately, I do not understand what you are asking. It sounds like you want to know if this particular connector will allow you to reduce the wire gauge from #2 to #4. There is no short answer to this question.

Two times I tried to order connectors for 6 gauge wire. The 8 gauge connectors that I received both times were the same. On a travel trailer, I was trying to do some electrical harness repairs. As a result of these mistakes, I had to finish the repairs almost two weeks late.

I bought these products because I couldn't find anything of comparable quality for splicing heavy lift gate power cables. This worked perfectly for my 4 gauge wire, but I had to heat shrink my own.

There is an error in the description of 6AWG

The Ancor 252130 8AWG butt connectors I received are fine. A mistake has been made in the description. There is a butt connector that is 8AWG. The clothes were not a good fit, so I returned them. We lose time when we do nothing. A link on Ancor's web site indicates that 252130 is for two 8AWG connectors, and that's exactly what was in the package. Rather than trying to find a vendor who carries a 6AWG connector package on your first try, find a vendor who offers.
