It follows that if the switch is wired appropriately, the light will only come on when the pump has been started by the float. There will be no electricity drawn in a waiting state if the switch is mechanical or mercury float.

There is the possibility that it could be wired in such a way that it switched the pump on and off, however it is more like a bilge pump switch since it has 3 positions On and Off. It's off- A momentary occurrence. It seems to me that an on-demand option would make more sense unless you need the momentary function There is a better method to turn off the bait well pump than the off switch.

In spite of what this unit says, it cannot be used with a float switch to control any pump. An electric bilge pump with a capacity of 3700 GPH requires circuit protection of 20 amps. It also features a "fuse" which appealed to me because the description claimed to be compatible with any pump or float switch. In fact, there is no fuse, rather a push-button breaker that breaks at 15 amps. Actually, it's a bit disappointing because the switch is rated at 20 amps. It appears the vendor and/or manufacturer were too lazy to specify the circuit values properly within the product description, so I now have to return (2) protected switch assemblies.
It's the most beautiful switch I've ever seen for bilge pumps. The pump can be set to be automatic or operated manually by a momentary switch. I always leave the boat's settings to auto while I'm on the water. Additionally it is equipped with a built-in circuit I'm very satisfied with the look and performance of this headset. If the install was difficult, cutting a hole in the boat's console would have been the most difficult part.
The boats I build are up to 20' in length. All of my boats leave my store with this switch installed! The product is of excellent quality and is of low profile. It is also reliable In addition to replacing a stand-alone switch, it can be used as a replacement for original faceplates.
We had trouble following the wiring instructions for this switch. The wiring instructions for the switch I installed to work in conjunction with this bilge pump were very Received the order in good time. I hope to get in the water before the cold weather sets in to check out the performance of the boat. It was successful to run the test on dry ground.
Wish that the manual button would stay down instead of being held down. Would have been a five star if it didn't require to be held The clothes are nice and don't appear.
I am a fan of the 3way switch and fuse when it comes to controlling a pump. The whole thing is in one place.
It could be confusing to some to figure out wiring. I am pleased with the quality and performance of the switch. There may be some issues with the jumper wire included because it is not connected to the switch and needs to be installed in the switch before installation can begin. I gave it 4 stars since you have to trial and error with where the jumper goes, but the instructions could be clearer. I highly recommend this seller because of their fast shipping.
