The item is available in three pieces, if you'd like to know what you will receive. In the rear of the switch is an outer frame or bezel that raises the switch about 3/4 inch above the surface. Upon opening, notice both that there is a flat plate that has screw holes and a rectangular cutout where the rocker switch is located. Lastly, there is a rocker switch that clips into the flatplate. About one inch is the length of the back of the rocker switch with its electrical connector. There is a 5 inch clearance from the back of the mounting frame to the back of the connectors, which means the mounting depth cannot be reduced. The first thing you need to do is To mount the switch on the wall, drill a hole of 25 inches in diameter. To create the needed diameter mounting hole with a step drill, I planned to use a 1 inch drill bit, but on my trailer there is only 1 inch of depth between inner and outer walls, which means that a 1 inch drill bit won't work. A hole of 25 inches in diameter is too long to drill through the trailer's wall as well as its outer skin.
This switch was recently installed in my travel trailer for switching between an exterior step light and an interior companion light. Although the installation was straightforward, I did not install the large plastic bezel because I need the switch to be as flat as possible since I mounted a companion light above it.
At the moment I am using four of these to convert my cargo hauler. It appears to be sturdy and of a nice size.
So far, this seemed to work well for me. It met my needs exactly.
To finish off a custom trailer in a clean manner.
In fact, I just ordered a second one for my motorcycle trailer interior cam.
Ideally, the switch and bezel should be of good quality. I purchased this component to add an extra accessory circuit to my camper. The factory original looks like it came from the factory.
