Using the old switch design, only one trim tab (starboard or port) could be manipulated at once because the switch changes the polarity of electricity going to the hydraulic pump. In order to prevent damaging the wiring of the hydraulic pump, the old switch design had a separate controller. Due to the fact that each trim tab is operated manually, it will be necessary to retract each trim tab if you need to launch or load the boat. It is my hope that this discussion will be helpful.
There is no indication that the joystick is waterproof, but it works better than the old
2 inches by 2 inches is a little confusing

In my experience, if you drill the recommended hole size with the included screws you will crack the fiberglass. I installed the switch yesterday, and I would advise anyone installing one to not use the screws. Still, I had to upsize the drill by two sizes and even then I noticed I was fortunate that the case covered the cracks, so it wasn't a problem. They may not travel at all, unless they eventually do. Besides that, the installer did a good job and the hole saw hole made with a 2 1/2" drill bit worked just fine.
The Bolt System does not have a hydraulic system switch. It is advisable to take precautions when buying. In case you bought the Bennett Bolt System, you should not use it. This is a repeating sentence. The trim switch is not suitable for use. The hydraulic systems from Bennett have been described here. It wasn't until it was too late that I learned about this. Relay runs and complete rewiring of the switch system were required. It took about 7 hours to complete a job that was only scheduled to last four. I think there should be a warning now that it works so well. There should be a BRC4000 switch on the Bennett Bolt tab. Plays as soon as you plug it in. I wanted to let you all know. The system still fascinates me, but it is in shambles right now.
To replace the old one, all I had to do was to remove it and replace it with the new There had to be new holes drilled due to the location of the holes from the 1996 switch to the new one having changed.
Purchasing a switch is a good investment, but it's pricey.
It was easy to install for replacement, but I am not sure the new wiring is arranged correctly although it seems backwards.
The faster choice turned out to be drilling a new hole.
Wiring harnesses are sometimes included with these, but are often defective. To attach the switch on one end, you still have to strip and attach the ends. This means the pigtail they sell has the exact same end as the pigtail they sell. I am still puzzled as to why they sell a harness at all if they don't connect. There are no connections between them.
This switch will last 18 years in the salt water environment, where the last one lasted 18 years.
