I wouldn't call the following a con completely, but I guess that is a possibility. As a result of this, the sack will allow you to fill to a point where it doesn't hold water up and will not be able to close. It is orange to stand out so it will not be left at home during a trip, or perhaps left at home. I discovered that the seller's photo of the poppy orange was a bit darker than the actual color. Upon seeing the contents of the bag, the dry sack will appear darker, since the material is translucent. I would have purchased the fluorescent yellow, but I thought the orange was brighter.
Considering we own three Osprey packs and they are known to be bombproof, I should've known better. The sacks appear to be very tough, but they are actually quite flimsy. while commuting by motorcycle to keep my keys from getting wet, and when I get a little rain, I keep my fobs in them. I am sure that if the beating they take on the bike with their keys inside them hasn't worn them down yet, they will hold up when we take them camping and backpacking in the springtime.
As a matter of fact, it worked just as it should to keep my sleep clothes dry. There was enough space to fit a full set of base layers (long sleeved shirt, long pants), one pair of under armour underwear, a short sleeved t-shirt, and an under armour jacket in the backpack. After I rolled the bag three full times, it didn't feel stuffed or at risk of tearing, and I was able to roll it three full times without any issues. Despite its strength and security, the buckle is durable and reliable. At the end of the day, it's an Osprey product. You get what you pay for, and I would gladly buy this again if it were available. In addition to its great performance as a food bag, I have the 12 liter version as well.
Until now, I have been looking for a dry bag that is ultra light. Among the two sizes I chose, I bought the three liters and the twelve liters.
