This bag is much larger than a quart. It is about 2 inches wider and 3 inches taller than it used to be. Although I cannot speak to air regulations, I have confidence that these zippers will last for a long time. The plastic is thicker than a freezer zip lock bag, so I assume you can take these on an airplane if you can use a zip lock bag.
There are two bags in this set. It seems to work fine.
My main reason for purchasing these was that I wanted to use them in my bear bag. The bears probably don't smell it, but you know what bears eat. Everything they smell can be detected by them. It hasn't been an issue for me yet, however please make sure that you wash your bags when you get home. I wish you all the best on your
Basically, I use these bags primarily for backpacking, and they do seem to lock in place. (There is no perfect solution). have frequently used bear bags for hanging food. I recently went to the Adirondacks where we were required to use bear canisters. I think the lopsak bags would work, but the 10x10 or larger bags would probably have space issues inside the containers. I wish you a happy hiking experience.

Despite being very intelligent, he also has a strong passion for food. He was adopted after he failed service dog training due to his inability to handle food well. Even though he is perfect in every other way, he eats everything that is A recent meal was an unopened can of dog food that had been left on the counter. He has eaten through multiple backpacks to get at the snack inside, and recently ate through the crumpled metal from the floor of the living room. We didn't even realize what it was for a long time. A cooked hamburger and some buns were put into an Opsak last night, and I left it in a plastic bag on the floor about six feet from Bear's For the rest of the evening, he didn't touch it. I left today to run some errands, and, although he took some bread off the counter, he didn't touch my When I decided to write a review, that's when I decided to write it. It is truly amazing to see these things. Moreover, I will purchase a few of the larger ones to pair with an Ursack for backpacking in the future, and I can't tell you how much I look forward to never having to hang another bear bag again! Furthermore, the packs will now be able to be left in the car with Bear if we need to run in and grab food, pay for gas, or even run to the store. Our trailhead is just a short distance away. As a result, we are able to solve a lot of problems thanks to them.
During my hike on the John Muir Trail in 2011, I used OpSaks for the first time. As part of my bear-proofing system, I use an OpSak 20′′ In my daily carry-on container I keep my food safe from the elements I have a different OpSak for food supplies on the trail, and I have another for trash inside my tent and inside my pack. Aloksaks and OpSaks don't last forever (there is a small chance that the zipper strip will wear out), but they last a long time and provide peace of mind regarding creepy crawlies that can ruin your trip (or at the very least ruin your mood).
Due to my old OPSAKS wearing out, I bought new ones for a couple wilderness kayaking trips on the coast where plenty of animals may be attracted to the scent of food. It's easy to store food, toothpaste, soap, hand sanitizer, and trash in them, and all of them fit comfortably Even as I walked away from the kitchen, my food drew no attention. At first, the campsite and kayak hatch cover over the stowed OPSAKs were untouched, but 50-75 were disturbed by men from a nearby camp. Tracks in the sand indicating tracking by raccoons, river otters, coyotes, and foxes were visible from 100 feet away. Not a single thing from my stuff was left, not even empty shells or crab carapaces. He's having a great time.
I gave one of the two bags two stars instead of one because it was able to survive three days on the trail without getting wet, but the other barely managed to survive the unpacking process. The seal split completely as soon as I tried to put food in. I was not the only one experiencing this problem. In the end, (1) I packed regular ziplocs because it was impossible for me to predict when the other pouches would break, and (2) Considering all these factors, did I really believe that ziplocs infused food odor to such an extent that wild animals were unaware I was there? Therefore, other than being the world's most expensive baggies they really just do their job.
I am unable to use my bags because they rip. Since 2010, these are the only products I have seen on the market and am a loyal customer. However, if they keep ripping when minimal use is made, they are too expensive. Another upsetting change is that I used to get three in my pack, now I only get two. They will not fully close all the time and I would like their tearproof zip sealer to be used because they won't always close fully. If it's possible I'd like replacements.
It doesn't smell even after it has been sitting for weeks, which is wonderful for someone like me who is sensitive to smell. The impression I got was very good. A copy of the book was purchased. Then there are about five or six more that I have acquired. In my backpack, I store one to seal up dirty clothes, wet items, garbage, and other mess when I'm It's great for hiking, as it keeps the smell of food The thing wouldn't even smell rotten! Put a rotten fish inside and you wouldn't get the slightest whiff of.
Despite being great, I find them to be a bit pricey for the amount of reuse that you can get out of Despite the fact that they are pretty thick and sturdy, you can get creases and dents in the plastic, which is pretty firm and durable. In case you are very careful in opening them, the contents will seal and reseal well. No matter how carefully you handle the top, it will eventually tear. In terms of how much I have used them for, I can use them for two, maybe three trips. I find that the odor lock and waterproofing don't last for very long, even with proper maintenance. My food goes in a relatively thick dry bag so it isn't an issue, but the corners are stiff and can poke through things.
It is a beautiful idea and I can package up all my backpack food in them and hang them from my bear bag. very good quality and they seem to have very good zip seals, but after a week of traveling, the sections above the zippers both came apart. There was quite a bit of resistance to opening it once the seal was broken. Certainly the zipper does what it is supposed to, but there needs to be more material above the zipper to make it stronger. A 3 out of 5 for me. The rating for this page is 678.
