It is possible to attach a weight to the loop of the buoy in order to use it as a marker. Although waves can lift and move the markers if they weigh too much, the weight would have to be large enough to prevent movement.

Buoy for marking your crab trot line! Maryland's new crabbing regulations call for the use of such buoys. The price is not cheap, but the quality is good. It's just a matter of not overinflating. There is only a need for 2 PSI with this buoy.
My buoy was used as a dock bumper after pumping some air into it and attaching a weight to a line to hold it in place after pumping in some air.
Despite his 1200 pound weight, the swing is big and sturdy enough for him to use. A heavy rope is put on it and he gets his hands on it and throws it all over the place as he twirls it around and runs. It seems to be fine to him, thanks.
Each time the air was used, it did not remain. A constant supply of air was required.
They are high quality and extremely strong, and we have had them on our boat for over a year now and they work like a charm.
It is of great quality.
