No, the axle is inserted into the sattle at the top, and the grooves are used to grip the surface.
Once your trailer is on the jack, you won't be able to stop it from moving because you won't have any contact points.
Yes, as long as the trailer's weight does not exceed the jack's capacity.
It claims to be rated for 2 tons and 4,000 pounds. I have a fifth wheel with a twin axle and four wheels. While you never know how much weight will be on one wheel, I believe it would suffice for the brief period required to get a wheel in the air and change a tire; I have never had to use it and hope I never do.
Selected User Reviews For Quick Change Trailer Jack
After discovering how difficult it was to change a tire on my 21' boat trailer with a scissor jack or a bottle hydraulic jack one dark night, I decided to purchase this ingenious item. It slipped out of place and broke the first time I attempted to use it. The manufacturer now demands that I pay for both return and forward shipping to Missouri in order to repair or replace it. The issue, in my opinion, is that it should be wider in order to provide more stability. It can also be used on concrete. In order to use it, you'll need someone to spot it. Now all I have in my tow vehicle is a small hydraulic floor jack.
I was able to let all of the. My trailer's wheels are 13 inches in diameter. I tried to ride up on the jack after completely deflating a tire. I experimented with different types of gravel, including loose gravel, compacted gravel, and concrete. The jack slid and fell over every time. When the tire is flat, the axle is lower, and the unit is unable to rotate; instead, it simply slides. I don't have a drop axle; instead, I have a straight axle. I gave it a shot after inflating the tire and got the same results. I'd give it a one-star rating if it weren't for the fact that it has worked for others. I'll update my review if I can figure out how to make it work reliably with a flat tire.
Despite my 16" wheel size, it worked perfectly on my trailer; however, I did come up with a way to make it work if you have an axle that you suspect is too high. Carry a small piece of 2x6 or something similar to keep it from slipping under the axle. This would effectively raise it for you while also providing a stable surface, even if you were walking on soft grass.
This tool is much more durable than I had anticipated. It was extremely easy to use when I needed to change a tire on my trailer. I was on soft ground, and it dug nearly two inches into the dirt, but it still worked fine.
It is extremely simple to operate. My boat, a 21-foot Sea Doo Utopia with trailer, weighs around 3000 pounds. I had a flat on my asphalt driveway and had to prop up the jack with scrap lumber or the weight of my boat and the ridges on the jack would have dug into my driveway. Aside from that, it was simple to use, stood up to the weight of my boat and trailer, and performed exactly as the manufacturer claimed.
I just used it on my boat trailer in the driveway. My trailer tires are 205/75R14, and the wheels are 2-inch wide. In less than 30 seconds, you'll be 3" off the ground. It's light, flat, and simple to store. When compared to a floor or scissor jack, this is a much safer and easier way to change a trailer flat.
These appear to work as they should and are handy to have on hand if you're trailering and have a flat tire. They appear to work on most hard surfaces. I put it to the test on my hard-packed gravel driveway, and it worked perfectly. On the other hand, I can see how this would fail on uneven terrain or a softer surface. Overall, a VERY USEFUL product for a quick tire change, but don't forget to bring your regular jack.
This is the type of thing you hope you'll never need, but you'll be glad you have it if you do! br>br>One day, on our way back from the lake, we blew a tire. We were so fortunate to have it! It was a lot easier to change the tire on our single-axle vehicle. It's a lot easier to tow a two-axle trailer. br>br>This is a heavy-duty and well-made item. When you've forgotten your hammer at home, this tool doubles as a tent stake hammer.
