Questions & Answers

The unit has to have a holding tank so that it can be approved for rivers and lakes by the Coast Guard?

Despite the fact that every person I know who has this head Our bathroom is equipped with a black water tank, and it's pumped out every day. Assuming that â**Yesâ** is the answer to your question, I can only assume you are right. It might be a good idea for you to contact the Coast Guard to get a definite answer, since your question relates to coast guard rules and regulations.

Is it possible to use fresh water in this toilet?

I am able to access water from the onboard

For compact as well as household sized receptacles, is the mounting bolt pattern the same?

When I replaced my compact with a household size one, my plumbing changed slightly but it was a bolt-on installation

In the event of a power outage or failure of the motor, is there a manual override to the system?

If power is lost, there is no way to override the alarm. For the electric pump, I replaced an old hand pump from Jabsco. It has been very helpful to me. The grinder makes a lot of noise when it is running.

Selected User Reviews For Jabsco 37010 Series Electric Marine Toilet, Push Button Operation, Macerator

There was a lot to be said about this toilet
4/5

When I went through the toilets, I chose my targets carefully. Something that wouldn't break the bank, was electric (to replace my old electric), and had a good macerator was what I was looking for. There were good reviews and there was a series a few years ago on YouTube about replacing parts, at least it seems suited for the task at hand. The old electric I had was a Raritan Crown Head CD Discharge series, 20 years old. A new toilet costs $1800, and you can see the difference immediately when you put them side by side. The Raritan is just Immediately below the discharge port is a 1-inch port Jabsco ID is thinner than Raritan ID, which is 1/2 inch thick. Likewise, the macerator on the Raritan was much larger (although it had broken, hence it had to be replaced). As compared to its 1" discharging port, the Jabsco port seems so small. I have a lot of issues with the Jabsco, but the largest concern is the hose width. Because the discharge port is on one side and the inlet is on the other, two ninety degree angles had to be constructed (one for the inlet and one for the discharge) in order for the hoses (which come out of the back of the toilet) to be fitted. Because of the right angle discharge adaptor, the width decreases by a tiny amount, but as time goes on I could see this becoming a clogging issue. br>br>In the bottom of the toilet is a small amount of water. The moment the button is pressed, there is a suction action that pulls the water and waste into the macerator. A garbage disposal is also activated (from the button press) as a part of the process. In a short time, the water trickles to the bottom of the bowl to replenish it. Since this water inlet doesn't make much of an effort to clean, I've found it necessary to wipe down the toilet after use (which wouldn't be necessary with a nicer marine toilet). As a result, there is considerably less noise than on the Raritan. Noise is not a good thing, and anyone complaining about it is It makes about the same amount of noise as my shower and water pumps.

It has handled what has been asked of it well so far, I hope it continues to do so.
If you don't have a switch already wired, this switch doesn't include wires to connect it, so you may need to do it yourself. In regard to the "sleeve" for the inlet hose, it's basically a piece of plastic that's cylindrical. Due to my need for 3/4 ID hose, I was a little disappointed. Despite the seat's tight fit to the base, it is not securely fastened. In this device, there is a plastic screw with a clamp that is not effective. This is a cheap toilet that does the job well. For a live aboard. It's hard to say how much abuse it will take, but as a weekender, I can certainly see its usefulness.

Marine toilets are a great addition to boats
5/5

The problem is that it's flawed. The first one I bought was a few years ago. As long as you keep the pump/chopper assembly in good shape, it does really well. I am eating out of the This lid and mounting assembly work well and will last a long time. On the first unit, the seals on the pump/chopper started to leak after about five years. Using a limited overhaul kit that was available at the time, I attempted to fix it, but it continually leaked. There was no apparent lubrication of the shaft, which led to wear in the assembly. I decided to simply buy a new toilet since the pump assembly costs nearly as much as a new.

It does a good job for the price
4/5

We love it! It's our second purchase of this kind. There is a lengthy installation process (I did not do it). In order to ensure your motor doesn't burn out, make sure there is enough water pumping into the toilet. On our 38' boat, we have two heads. The back head has to have an additional hose fitted so as to reach the water level since it sits too far away from the water. In all fairness, the front head works just fine so far without the extra water, since it is situated closer to the.

This is a very loud song which does the job
3/5

Buying this toilet was in order to replace the similar one I recently purchased for my boat. A crack was present on the original toilet (1999) due to its old style base. The building had to be rebuilt as well. Eventually, I went ahead and replaced the entire system. there was plenty of room in the boat, I ordered the toilet with a regular seat instead of the compact seat that came on the original. As it stands, the toilet looks and works like new and hooked up to existing wires and hoses with no trouble at all. Having changed the design of the base, it was necessary for me to drill an additional hole for mounting in front and to seal two unused mounting holes at the rear. However, the toilet is very loud and does not function well at all. My only reason for giving it 3 stars is because of the noise.

It is easy to install, but new marine toilets leak
5/5

No product support is available. The oil started dripping from the motor assembly, however. When I contacted the seller, he said basically that they were just for sale contact the manufacturer for further information. It was a phone number (which was not the correct one) and I was referred to another phone number, tech support, where the only option is to leave a voicemail. Despite multiple attempts and no response, I have not yet received a response. I have updated Abbsco representatives contacted me again and said a new unit will arrive in two weeks, since they are currently on holiday. The review will be updated as soon as the product has been received, installed, and tested. Thanks to Paul at Jabsco for his response.

There are no more clogs to worry about! The unit was installed on our commercial fishing boat 5 months ago, and so far we have had ZERO issues with clogging, leaks, or smells! During our work on the hull, we also replaced the sanitation lines
5/5

If you have issues with this toilet, I would suggest that you try that first. Ours were quite old and had built up enough deposits that the hole in our 1 was quite deep. One eighth of a 5" line is smaller than one eighth of a 5".

I am in love with it
5/5

Although it is not very quiet, this toilet functions well and fulfills its purpose well. Having a 1997 Sea Ray and an old pump-handle toilet was a nightmare from day one and would not let us live with that. Replace the previous sentence with this one. That is such a great idea! You'll thank me if you pay the buck, if you are on the fence about it.

The product is of good quality, well worth the price

It works pretty well. This system was installed on a 21x70 houseboat with no issues. A bit of a roar is heard when flushing, but it's Maceration is probably the cause of it because it uses a strong However, I am willing to accept a bit more noise if it means I get a toilet that works so well.
