What is the purpose of the foam pads? Could ballistic plates be substituted for them? The vest I have is camouflage, so I would like to switch to a black one instead. Do you have any suggestions?

It would be exceptionally hard to replace the safety pads with ballistic plates without modifying the base. To do this, you would need professional stitching skills.

How much does this weigh and how tall am I? I am 190 pounds and 5'11" tall. Halloween is the only reason I need it. ?

Music videos and fashion (as well as some air softening) are the reason for getting this. There was no smell of glue on the vest, which was packaged neatly. I like the way it fits right out of the box. It is not too heavy or It is 100% recommended that you buy this product.

In this vest I got both a vest that fits well and one that looks good in a camera. A range of adjustable spots on the vest makes it easy to adjust the vest to most builds. Airsoft can be dangerous and you'd want a vest that would protect you in an armed encounter. This vest does not hinder mobility nearly as much as you'd expect from a padded vest.

I like this carrier because it can be had for a fair price

I can't believe how nice this carrier is for the price. The plate pockets seem very well stitched and solid. A 5'11" 210 pound person can wear it comfortably. It seems like it will last a long time, but there is no telling how long. It's a steal at this price and I would definitely recommend it.
