Questions & Answers

How can I adjust the hat size for my head? I wear a seven and one eighth hat size. ?

The bag can fit up to a size

Is the size 6 3/4 suitable for my head?

It is true. This one fit me well when I bought it in June 2018. As a rule of thumb, I wear a size There is a possibility that it may be too large for a 6 3/4, but the mesh in the liner can be lessened. You can read my Amazon review there.

Is it possible for it to be shipped ?

The items we sell are not available for international shipping.

This is what the painting would look like if painted. Do you recommend rubbing it on with a rattle, or is applying it with a paint brush better. ?

It would be great to paint it, but I am sure a can of matte paint would be great

Brodie Helmet Doughboy Helmet of the US soldiers in WW1
4/5

Having a helmet like this is a great idea. The exhibition is an absolute must for anyone interested in WW1 memorabilia and equipment. A U has always been a dream of mine. It used to be fairly easy to find a complete Brodie helmet from the WW1 era, but now it is nearly impossible. I own an original that still has its original chinstrap attached and it is slightly darker in color and wider in width compared to this reproduction. A typical original would be missing the liner system and chinstrap, due to them being rotten out and turning into dust over time. There is a smaller buckle on the chin strap compared to Additionally, the original buckle, in my opinion, appears to be painted green, while the original was made out of a glistening, gold On the left there is a small piece of papyrus (? b) A label in each helmet that The net should be adjusted to fit the head by tightening the cord. This feature is significantly smaller on the original than it is on There was another imperfection with the repro - the rim seam was wrong. In order to prevent soldiers from accidentally cutting themselves on the sharp-edged edge of the helmet, rims were added shorty after it was introduced. It would have been nice to have a rim that was more accurate to the original Brodie helmet since this comes to mind when we think of the Brodie helmet. These are the differences between the helmets that I have. I'm sure there are variations among all the helmets, but this is a comparison with my original helmet. It was particularly important for me to have a helmet with a intact liner, since I was never able to obtain a good look at a liner in good condition before. The reason why so many of the originals have these missing is clear to me now. As I understand it, there are only two clips that secure the liner in place by clipping on two small buttons. Both ends of the chinstrap are attached to a button. As a result, you can now comprehend why these fall off originals so often, as they're made up of a super shiny piece of black leather (WAY too shiny and fake feeling for my tastes) that surrounds a mesh lining. An adjustable string system is used to tighten or loosen the net, so that it can fit every head size. There is a wool circular cushion that rests below the netting, as well as the chinstrap system and the "TIGHTEN CORD" tag that are bolted to the shell. Although the suspension system in this helmet is near perfect, I am not happy with the black leather that is used. A material like this does not seem like the kind of thing that would be used in 1917. See what I mean by looking at the image. Aren't you surprised by how shiny it is? More comfortable than most helmets, this helmet feels great while wearing it. Obviously, I had to untwist the net in all directions to extend it fully and I had to adjust the chinstrap to its largest position. The chinstrap on my original helmet is also too small for me, and I'm unable to wear it unless I increase its size to the largest. In terms of the paint, it can be extremely difficult to tell whether it is If we compare multiple originals to each other, we may notice that the paint is constantly changing. Paint can either be faded or rusted most of the time. Most often, I see a greyish green, and there are times, though not always, where I may see a darker lime green. I believe this helmet came with "olive drab shade 2" paint on it, which is what puts it into the category of WW2 M1 helmets. I have no complaints about the paint on my helmet other than the slight paint chipping on the rim. The paint on my helmet is quite smooth on the inside and has a rough surface on the outside. Update (VIDEO This is painted in a horrible manner. A layer is constantly peeling off and wearing away. It may need some touch up work, or you may need to completely re-paint it). Be aware of this issue, although it may just be mine. Chipped paint seems to be obscured by a brownish red color underneath. In order to fix this issue, I will attempt to do so. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help me out if you have any advice. As a whole, the helmet is quite nice. Despite its imperfections as a reproduction and its paint issues it is a very nice painting. I am pleased to finally own a complete US Brodie helmet from the WW1 era.

This is a very nice reproduction, but there is one major problem
3/5

This helmet and liner is of good quality but is considerably smaller than it was advertised to be. This was described as being a size 7 1/2 in the product description. Despite wearing a 7 1/8, I have trouble fitting my head in. I actually have to put extra pressure on the sides of my face to wear it Those are the tightest of quarters. My main purpose for buying the helmet was mainly to display it on the bookcase with some of my WW I books, but I like wearing it every now and then when I really feel like a nerdy boy, which is quite often, However, the paint is not of good quality, and its color does not seem to work" I would prefer a green that is more vibrant. The originals I've seen are much better than the copies. Though I'm not an expert, I do have some experience in this area. Beautiful work. I like it. Despite that, there is a major issue with size and fit that drops it.

World War Supply gave me a very good reproduction M1917 at an excellent price
5/5

It arrived within a few days. Their merchandise is always of high quality and I've been satisfied with all of my purchases. A picture of my new helmet is available alongside a picture of a genuine 1917 M. As far as size, shape, and weight are concerned, the original is nearly identical. from the photo that the replica is a different shade of pink This replica captures the texture of the original to the tiniest detail. There are a few differences in the rivets and bails. The liner of an authentic liner and that of the replica were different, according to another review. There is a slicker, plastic-like coating on the black lining in the replica In the original, the oil cloth appears more like the cloth in this translation. There is a large difference in the dimensions of the original and the replica paper labels. There is a lot of stiffness in the chin strap. This liner fits snug on my head because I am a size 7 and 3/8. It was in this spirit that I repainted the helmet with a camouflage scheme, similar to the one many returning doughboys painted on their helmets before My plans are to age the helmet several times (wash it many times in dark colors, slide it through mud, let it sit in the rain, etc. ) I am glad I spent the money.

Who am I to justify my purchase? The quality is good, but I don't know what it means
4/5

Brodie does a pretty decent job. Despite my fat head, I was able to wear this pretty comfortably. The only thing I had to do was remove the rubber hoses from the headband to make it fit. There are leather parts on all the furniture that are durable and made out of real leather. To be honest, I just bought it so that I could say I wish I had saved more money for it, but it's still a decent product. If you need one to reenact something or to wear as a costume, then go for it. It is impossible for me to help you with specs of the original variant as I am unfamiliar with them.

This is a good thing

I'll give it a try. I don't know what else to say, but I think this is good. For me, I think I am going to wear it every day, so it differs from "owning it as decor. " I have to say that after removing one of the small tubes that are right above my left ear (or right ear, it doesn't matter which one it is) I find it much more comfortable to wear it. You should also make sure that the medallions on the sides where the straps go through are parallel to the brim as well, for added comfort. In conclusion, this is My head feels strong and good when I wear it. This is a five-star rating.
