Questions & Answers

Is the bottle's opening large enough to accommodate 2 inch long oblong, round, and flat homemade icecubes from a typical home icemaker?

Yes, one at a time, and you might need to "bop" them in. But it'll do for the one I'm working on.

What is the mouth opening's diameter?

It measures about 1 1/4 inch in diameter.

Is this going to fit in a standard bicycle bottle cage?

The pink one is mine. The answer is no, it will not fit on a bike rack. It's as wide as the rest of the Nalgene bottles. I hope this has been of assistance.

What are the measurements (at the very least the bottom diameter)? Thanks! ?

The following are the measurements: 0" H x 3" W x 0" H x 0" H 0" W (or bottom diameter) NOTE: My daypack's mesh pockets are too small for this bottle. But it's great for carrying water, and the narrow mouth prevents the liquid from splashing all over the place when you're sipping it.

BPA is present in this bottle
3/5

This Nalgene's recycling code is 7, which indicates that it is made of BPA-containing plastic. I was just looking up which plastics are safe to use on the internet, and this was all over the place: Recycling code 1 (PET) is safe, while recycling code 7 (in the shape of recycling arrows) contains BPA and leaches into your beverages. With that big 7 on the bottom, I'm not sure how they can keep claiming this is BPA-free.

Garbage
3/5

I ordered two of these to replace the first one, which had broken at the neck (as seen in the photos). I assumed it was a one-time occurrence, so I ordered another. The casting seam on the side of the second one also broke (photos included). This is only after only the tiniest amount of use on both occasions. I've had a lot of Nalgenes and have dropped them full of water, frozen them, and otherwise abused them, but nothing like this has ever happened to them. These are probably not genuine Nalgene products and are likely to be garbage.

Water bottle has become my new favorite
5/5

My Nalgene narrow mouth bottle meets all of my expectations. For those who are confused, the 1 quart size is the same as the 32 oz size. It even includes an estimate of the volume in ounces and milliliters. I chose the one quart model because it was less expensive for some reason. In any case, the bottle itself is sturdy and the grey variation's color is accurate. I've already dropped it while it was still full of water, and the bottle and screw cap have no cracks or other damage. I carry the bottle by the plastic that connects the bottle to the cap, and it is strong enough to handle the weight. The narrow mouth bottle is great for drinking water on the go and preventing spills, particularly while walking, driving, or exercising. Of course, it's a little more difficult to fill than the wide mouth version, but I don't mind. You can clean it with a bottle cleaning brush, which can be found at most Target or Walmart stores for a reasonable price, or you can use the old "fill with soapy water and shake the hell out of it" method. Both of these strategies are effective. It's also worth noting that, unlike one of those newfangled HydroFlask bottles, this bottle won't keep your water cold for very long. This is actually a plus for me because I prefer room temperature water, but it's something to be aware of. I imagine putting ice cubes in the narrow mouth would be a pain, so if that's an issue for you, I'd recommend getting the wide mouth or spending the extra money on an ultra-wide mouth. bottle that has been insulated Finally, the bottle is made in the United States of America. of A.

I really like these bottles
5/5

They ensure that I consume adequate amounts of water. At the moment, I own four narrow-body vehicles. Nalgene water bottles with a mouth size of 32 oz. One is at home, one is in my car, one is at work, and one is kept as a backup. They're tough as nails, and they don't leak. proof. The simple twist-off cap is one of my favorites because it keeps the area where you put your lips covered and clean until you're ready to drink. I only buy narrow mouth bottles because they are much less likely to spill water on me when I drink (especially while driving!). Wide-mouth bottles can, however, be fitted with inserts and adapters (refer to REI). br>br>I've dropped these on concrete, rocks, and other hard surfaces numerous times and they have never cracked. If you scuff them enough, they will scuff, usually on the bottom. The bottoms of most of the bottles I own have been scratched from being placed on hard surfaces, but the scratches are barely noticeable. Any decal that has been printed is susceptible to scuffing. The worst I've ever done to one was take it kayaking in a northern lake, where something in the lake water caused the outside to fog up permanently. I've never been able to remove it, but it has had no effect on functionality. br>br>These bottles should only be used for water, as putting anything sugary or acidic in them will change the taste of the water for the rest of your life. They must be cleaned on a regular basis, or they will develop a stench and mold will grow in the cap and threads due to excessive use. I recommend using a strong bottle brush and hot, soapy water to clean the bottle. They can be put in the dishwasher; However, remove the cap completely and either hand wash it or place it in the bottom silverware holder. I once placed my bottle upside down on the top rack with the cap unscrewed but the tether still attached. When the cap came in contact with the dishwasher sprayer, the softer plastic of the cap melted. Fortunately, replacement caps are available. I frequently pick up my bottles by the cap tether, which causes them to develop small splits near the top after a few years. However, none of them has yet to snap. br>br>Overall, if you're looking for a simple, long-lasting water bottle to take on your adventures, this is the one! The 32oz is my favorite because it holds a lot of water but isn't too heavy, and I can still hold it in one hand from the side. They also come in a variety of colors, so I rarely end up in a room with someone who has the same one.

Drinking Opening with an Ergonomically Shaped Opening
5/5

Pros: br>The opening is ergonomically designed to cup your lower lip and make drinking more convenient. br>When drinking, the water flows smoothly. When you drink, none of the threads come into contact with your lips. br>It's simple to shut and open. br>Seal is a leak-proof and secure seal. br>A product of the United States of America. Cons/Warnings: br>br> br>This isn't really a con, but it's something to think about. Although it is impact resistant, it is not shatterproof. When a bottle with this design falls, the neck will always be the weakest link, especially if the bottle is filled with water or other fluid. While this is something that any Tritan co-worker will tell you, Despite the fact that polyseter containers are tough and can withstand some impact, they can still break when dropped on a hard surface, especially if there are contents inside. It's tough, but it can be broken. br>br>A word of caution about long-term use of anything acidic and/or citric/citrus beverages: hairline fractures or cracks may develop. Other: br>br>Other: br>br>Other: br>br>Oth Despite the fact that this bottle has a recycle code of 7, it is BPA-free. If you read up on the number 7, you'll notice that not all of the numbers contain BPA. Final thoughts: br>br> br>I purchased two narrow mouth and one wide mouth. We've had a few of these bottles before and have always been pleased with them. br>It's always a good idea to do some research before making a purchase. Knowing what you'll use it for and how you'll use it will help you figure out what type or composition of container/bottle will work best for you. br>Highly recommended.
