It works with the Terrapin X rangefinder and the Hornady ballistic app, but contact Kestrel for a list of other apps and devices that are compatible. They've been extremely beneficial.
no.. Ruger's logo is on mine. The important thing is to see if it has the Ruger gun data. On the screen, it will say "5700 - Ruger is a good example of this. If it's a standard 5700, all you have to do now is add your guns. Best of luck to you. a fantastic addition
It's something I'm looking forward to as well.

I've shot it from 1200 yards and at angles as high as 21 degrees without missing a shot. Of course, all of this is contingent on you entering accurate data into the unit, but I didn't even need to calibrate it at 1216 yards. It was absolutely correct! br>br>As for the Ruger version, I really like it. I have two friends who are Ruger rifle shooters, and with the pre-production Ruger rifles, they are a lot of fun to shoot. Within minutes, both of them had loaded guns and ammunition and were firing at 1000 yards. One of my buddies was shooting a Ruger American, which isn't a high-end rifle, and within 10 minutes of firing, he was hitting a 24 inch steel plate at 1000 yards. Amazing! br>br>I also use the Sig BDX binoculars, which connect to the kestrel directly for distance measurements. You'll still need to capture the direction of fire because the binos can't do it, but it'll be a lot faster than scrolling through the distance by pressing the up and down buttons. br>br>I strongly recommend Kestrel and have urged everyone to purchase one. This is an incredible unit. I'm planning on stretching it out to 1760 yards, or a mile, as soon as possible. I'm confident the Kestrel will be up to the task. To get the custom drag curves that will work with transonic, you'll need to upgrade to the advanced software, which costs $300 but might be worth it. From 0-100, I've shot a lot of different things. With my rifles, I haven't needed it yet at 1200 yards.
The year is 2021, and I paid $399 for it. br>br>This product reminds me of pre-2000 cell phones. Menus that are cryptic and alphanumerical, a menu maze. Tiny black-and-white lcd with poor picture quality. This is an old product, and I'm sorry to hear that the military still uses it. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>ballistic calculator However, there are glaring flaws in it - For 223 yards, I can range the target at 2300 yards and use the calculator to make adjustments. At about 800 yards, 223 reaches the end of its supersonic range. Give some forewarning, please. That cost me $399. I'm not going to pay $600 for a model who is considered elite. br>br>To set up this device, you'll need your phone. For cell phones, there are a slew of popular and highly accurate ballistic calculators. In addition, I already own a cell phone. Another thing to lug around and a new thing to break. br>br>reason for my purchase - Rangefinder can be connected via Bluetooth. My Leica 2800 is one of my favorite cameras. Bluetooth is notoriously unreliable, but when it does work, it's fantastic. However, it is not always successful. When Bluetooth is turned on, it takes about 40 minutes. It takes 60 seconds to connect the Leica to the Kestrel and adjust the scope. I downloaded the most recent firmware and installed it. br>br>So I have to yell at the deer and tell them to freeze until I can range. In some cases, Bluetooth does not connect at all, and I am left with no range.
I received an item that appeared to have been previously used. Despite this, I tried to use Link. The connection could not be maintained. I returned the 5700 Elite and ordered a new one, and I'm waiting for the new one to arrive and a refund for the old one. br>I'll keep you updated, but I'm not happy that I paid $400 for a used unit that didn't work.
This is a fantastic little ballistics computer and meter. Although there are standalone ballistics calculators, I have found that the majority of long-range shooting errors are caused by errors in environmental data. I bought the Ruger version because I use Ruger preloaded firearms, and it does everything well and is simple to use with a little practice. It costs the same as a standard 5700 that can be set up to do the same thing. Overall, it's quick and simple to use in the field or on the range, and it always relies on accurate environmental data.
Every time I've used it, it's worked perfectly. br>I strongly advise you to visit the Kestrel site and Panhandle Precision to begin laying the groundwork.
For someone who is new to long distance shooting (500 yards), this tool has put me on target so quickly that it's amazing. Read the wind, and it will tell you how to adjust the scope on the first shot, and it will almost certainly get you on paper. This tool can be used in so many different ways that it's incredible. You will not be sorry.
Long-range shooting has been forever changed as a result of this. I live in North East Florida, where the weather can be a real pain in the neck when it comes to accuracy. This has made it simple, enjoyable, and necessary due to the high cost of ammunition.
I can't think of anything negative to say about how well it works. Only reduced in size, I wish it could hold more information than three,.
