Hello, the wind direction is not displayed on the Kestrel 2500. The Kestrel 5500 comes highly recommended in this regard.
I'm pretty sure that's 300 hours of battery life. To use the device, you must turn it on and off. It should last for about 12 days unless you forget to turn it off.
Hello, The Kestrel 2500 does not have the ability to record minimum and maximum air temperatures. The Kestrel 5000 or Kestrel 5500 are two models that I would recommend. When I got my 2500 last week, I was overjoyed. We were disappointed to discover that in order to calibrate the meter, we had to enter local pressure and elevation. With a?, I received a lot of responses. Today, a Kestrel representative called to explain the situation. I was under the impression that we'd have to reschedule. This was happening everywhere we went, which was defeating the purpose. However, he stated that this is only true if you have traveled a long distance. I live on the North Carolina coast and plain. as well as Rep. If you go to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina, you'll see what I mean. (At least 250 miles per hour) It was decided (by highway) that it would be fine without recalibrating. I've tried a variety of different options and settings. It was left in water, floating, and it was taken from a temperature of 80 degrees F. I accidentally dropped it and checked against local elevation, and it went from freezer to fridge without a hitch. This is an EXTREMELY INTERESTING TOOL.
My boyfriend is giddy with delight! This is exactly what he wanted for backcountry skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities, and I'm thinking about getting one for myself! When you're in a dangerous situation with a lot of exposure, it's great to be able to keep an eye on the weather and note any upcoming changes. I can see us taking this on a backpacking trip as well. It comes in handy a lot.

Hiking is a common use for this item. The measurements were both precise and practical. Kilimanjaro's elevation corresponded to published data - That makes me very happy! The case does its job of protecting you, but opening it is a little annoying. However, it was insufficient to change my rating.
Outstanding. For jobs involving our crane and wind speed. Precision riflemen will benefit from this tool as well. It provides precise information.
I also live near a Dupont plant that occasionally releases chlorine gas, so I use it to run a computer model that predicts the spread of gas or particulates, and I wanted a more accurate method of measurement than my estimates. In terms of quality and functionality, this is a fantastic instrument. Although there are more expensive models available, this one meets all of the essential requirements. I'm trying to figure out the best way to set the altimeter/barometer baseline, and while it's simple, I haven't had the opportunity to do so yet. It comes with a lanyard and a plastic slipcover to protect it in your pack or pocket and is very sensitive to wind speed. Useful in a hurry If you need high precision weather measurements, this is well worth the money. I haven't used their customer service yet; hopefully, I won't need to, but if I do, I'll let you know.
All of my expectations were exceeded. It worked flawlessly after I calibrated it to a nearby weather station. It's what I use to figure out what's going on in the environment at long-range shooting locations and then enter the information into the "SHOOTER" program.
I've been using my Kestrel in the field for a few weeks now, and I prefer it to the Sherpa model I had (that was stolen from me) that I bought for half the price of the Kestrel at Cabelas. br>br>It's easier to see the readout than the Sherpa (especially now that I'm officially old and have to wear Bifocals). Apparently, calibrating the barometric pressure and altitude readings is simple, but why can't someone just make something that is ready to use right out of the box? br>br>It's a little out of my price range, but I'm confident it'll give me a lot of field service hours while I'm studying snakes and other reptiles. Even with the calibration issue, I would buy the Kestrel again if I had to do it all over again.
