Questions & Answers

How does the crank arm get removed? Does it come with a tool?

Tire iron worked very well to remove and install the crank arm. Instead of spending money on a tool I might not use again, I could have used it again and again.

What is the width of the 175mm version? I measure my crank arm length in that manner. ?

You can order it in a variety of These are 165, 170, and The following are among the top five

Are I required to change the right crank arm on my Ultegra 6800 if I intend to use it with this bike?

This power meter can be used with the 6800 drive side without changing what side it is.

Thank you. I have a question for you. What is the compatibility of trek domane sl 2017's g3 steps power l ultegra 6800 with g3 stages power l ultegra R8000?

It's difficult for me to understand what you mean- But if the power meter won't fit on the new crank and you were wondering if it could be modified this way- No, it is the case

An early impression of the first power meter
4/5

The price is kind of steep, but those are the costs of power meters in general. It is likely that the price will drop once they learn about it. A few things went wrong. I was having trouble pairing my Wahoo Fitness ELEMNT bolt. The unit wouldn't calibrate, and I had to force the device to "forget" the sensor and then BOLT WB15-DA has been updated with the latest firmware and this has been corrected In case of a fumble, use 2659- The issue arose in April, 2019 and has not recurred since then. My first few rides were a bit frustrating because I had trouble getting the battery cover on correctly (it isn't obvious). For a while, the sensor kept losing contact with the cyclometer, but that was caused by Power to track workouts is something I am experimenting with for the first time. This review is based on about a month of riding with the sensor, but I have been riding for more than forty years. For my training goals and ability I am absolutely sure that it is way To sum up, I'm a firm believer that "What gets measured gets managed," so more data is a good thing for me. This has helped me to pay more attention to how hard I am working rather than how well I'm doing in MPH. In the case of a strong tail wind, it will seem as if you had an amazing workout when in truth, you barely shed a sweat, or a headwind can be discouraging when you fight it all day but your log doesn't reflect I guess that's true now. In order to maintain Wattage instead of cycling between spinning and mashing down, I have been using it to try and maintain a steady pace. When one has Di2 shifters, they can adjust the cadence and power to fit the situation quickly. The result has been some interesting changes in some of the most common- It is only the first month, and the roads are already ridden. If I have to pedal on gradual downhills that I used to coast down, for example, I will do so now in a high gear. As well as that, my heart rate doesn't seem to track my effort as well as I thought it would. Overall, I would rate it as a 5 star power tool, especially after the firmware upgrade, but I would knock off a star for the cost. They could charge a core charge for the old crank arms in order to receive credit for them? Since I have a useless Ultegra left crank arm lying around my garage, I now have something that is useless to me.

The frequency of dropouts decreases with higher The bottom line -Updated on 7/13/19 - I've been using it for a couple months now, and have experienced dropouts when climbing out of the saddle with it
4/5

(Below) I tried a bunch of things but none of them A ticket was opened with Stages support, which eventually resolved the issue by stating that, although the published lower bound is 20, the effective lower bound On steeper sections (11+%), I tend to drop my cadence and the bursty pedaling (which is probably more like stomping) causes my arm to miss revolutions when I'm out of the saddle. A distinct difference between Stages and other PM crank arms is that Stages does not contain a cadence magnet, instead using an inertial system to calculate The "style" I use when pedaling under high pressure messes that up, and I miss the revolution. I have no problems lowering the gear, as long as I keep my revs above 40. The cadence is never getting close to 20 for me and if it was a cadence magnet system, this probably wouldn't be an issue. The software is still rated 4 out of 5 stars, but there are some conditions under which it does not The original text is in the following format As the gen 1 and 2 stage units had a reputation for dropping connections, I was pretty concerned about dropouts. While it is said that Gen 3 will be much better, I was watching for any problems before my return period ended. The unit has been great so far, coupled with a Garmin 520, which a lot of people should not be using together. While riding up a canyon, I once saw the power reading consistently drop to zero. Unsurprisingly, I had always been out of the loop on this part. As far as I am aware, I wasn't making enough power to upset the unit. As I huffed and puffed, I realized that the head unit lost satellites (perhaps because of my torso's movement blocking the satellite signal), thinking I had stopped moving and pausing it. As it had no speeds to report, it didn't know how much power he had. This was a mildly annoying problem, and the wheel speed sensor was still paired and activated. I will turn off auto pause the next time, but I don't know if this will make any difference. I have updated 6 of the six daily bulletins As you can see, I've tried a number of things, one at a time, but none of them have actually resolved You may need to update your Garmin firmware from 3. 0. 2 to 3. 3. 3. The range of 0 to 4 is. There are details in the release notes that say it fixed power meter dropouts, and it might have reduced the problem, but didn't solve A data point collection from "smart" to one per second is now available. Changes have not been made. I've turned off the phone connection on the Garmin. There has not been any Removing my phone from my pocket There has not been any The Stages is already running the most recent version of the firmware. It still occurs only when I'm out of the saddle, and not all the time. In other words, the closer my upper body gets to the Garmin, the higher the chances of a drop out. One of the few bits of electronics that may end up emitting interference in my camelbak is my That I might be able to move into my saddlebag. As of 7/10/19, multiple head units have displayed dropsouts at the same time, at different locations, and I have tried them all at the same time. In short, I opened a ticket with Stages support, and they took a look at it. It is important that files from both systems be fitted together. It appears that the published cadence lower bound is only "approximate", and less smooth pedaling styles may result in the arm missing a revolution. If the RPM drops below 40, this can result in a cadence that is less than one rev per third of a second (20 RPM). The head unit takes this to be 0%. confirms to me that a higher level record As an L), it would be no different, since only the left crank arm would provide cadence data.

It is easy to install and accurate
4/5

The accuracy is good, the installation is simple, and the battery life is good, but there is annoying When you apply force to pedals to get a reading, it takes 6 seconds, and 6 seconds again when you stop pedaling to get a reading of During a more steady phase - In any case, a significant power change, such as a sudden sprint, will be reflected in power and cadence readings approximately 3 seconds after the change in power or cadence. Why this is so, I do not know why. It isn't the end of the world, just a bit annoying.

It was a great ride with an amazing group of fast and strong riders
5/5

I tested my power meter on the road yesterday for the first time. It was a great ride with an amazing group of fast and strong riders. The first few climbing steps, I was doing more watts than I could maintain in order to keep up with the leaders. By checking the power meter in advance, I was able to gauge when my body began experiencing overexertion. week, I plan to control my wattage in the beginning, so I can maintain a steady output the entire way up the hill. I hope to start the climb with less power and gain ground towards the end of the hill, and to finish the whole ride stronger and faster in the end. Also, I find the additional information useful to measure how effective my training and fitness levels are.

A new world for training has come true with this high standard product! I changed my training regimen for cycling after I bought the GEN3 Stages Powermeter Ultegra R8000 left sensor only
5/5

In terms of the design, it's very good, and as long as you follow the instructions for using the GPS or cycling computer, it won't cause any problems. The device's smooth and coherent filtered signals, no spikes, and robust signals are just some of its great features. If you want to ensure smooth pedal function, buy the crank side sensor as well (right side). However, I consider that unnecessary at least for my personal goals. In order to perform a power workout thoroughly, it is important that you have the right equipment.
