The unit has been purchased. For a new boat, this will be my second Faria GPS speedometer. It worked great for the first one, but not for this one. I had to return the first one I bought because it wouldn't I was able to use the second speedo The installation process is relatively straightforward. Getting a speed reading that is accurate is great. The fact that new boats are still made with pilot tube speedos is astonishing.
It was easy to install and it was an excellent replacement for the Faria pitot speedometer I had on my boat. When I'm driving below 20 mph, I can see my true speed - something the pitot would never be able to show, and which is usually in the range where I am most active.
It is no longer functional. My pontoon is now equipped with the unit. I was able to use it for about 10 hours before it stopped working. Having read other reviews about the problem, I think it is common.
I am impressed with the improvement. There are two kinds of water pressers 1900 Technology and 1800 Technology This type of boat shouldn't be installed in any new one ever again.
