Questions & Answers

What is the pay schedule? Do you pay monthly or yearly? How about subscribing, getting data, or anything like that? How are you?

There seems to be some slyness going on with Garmin here. They don't offer a version with LMT for the DriveSmart 55 on their own site. They do not directly mention updates for it either. Additionally, you must pay for updates elsewhere on the site. It is not specified how much money was involved. You will have to download an app in order to get further information.

Are there maps for North America and the United States in GarminDrive 55? Is it equipped with speed cameras and can it warn you when it is about to hit a red light?

You will find that the Garmin Drive 55 includes the United States and Canada in its mapping as well as warnings for Red Light and Speed Cameras.

How long are the lifetime map updates for the DriveSmart models 55 and 65?

A DriveSmart 55 and a DriveSmart 55 Plus Using the DriveSmart 65 and 40 You need to be aware of the traffic Maps and traffic are updated without the need to be charged on traffic devices.

It is a smartdrive 65 I just purchased. A gtm 60 hd digital traffic receiver is already in my possession. Is there an advantage to using the 65 with my existing software?

Using GTM 60 I have been able to get great results with my DriveSmart 55. It is nearly as good (and in some respects worse. In fact, ) is easier to use It is important to note that even though the DS 55/65 comes with built-in traffic, it is only a standard traffic. If you need HD traffic, you must purchase In addition, the HD is much more up-to-date and detailed and has a better picture. I wish you all a safe journey!

It's great to have a standalone navigator again Is just what I was looking for! Previously, I had been using a Garmin Nuvi but switched to a cellphone for most navigation needs
5/5

I bought the DriveSmart 65 because I needed a portable navigation device. It is great that there are cellphone navigation systems, but I do miss the ease of use associated with Navigation from a cellphone was particularly undesirable for me because of the following reasons 1) Not being able to easily see the navigation apps when manually using the phone to make 3) Inability to navigate without a cellular connection If you're hiking in the Rocky Mountains, you may encounter such a situation. You may need offline maps if you used an app other than Google Maps, or if you pre-downloaded them. 2) I never could find a way to use the offline maps for Google that worked well for me, there always seemed to be an issue with resolution that I could not fix Aside from that, no matter how hard I tried, offline mode never seemed to work consistently. There are other free offline navigation apps, however they seemed to be behind in updates, and did not seem refined, leaving me with a doubt in my mind that will never fully disappear. 4) The small screen size in portrait mode, although I have an iPhone Plus, did not suit me. 5) Whenever I wanted to interact with my cellphone in any way, such as using an app, the navigation app had to run in the background and was inherently out of sight. *6) I was envious of all the intuitive vehicle navigation features that the Garmin vehicle navigation systems had As well as the elevation, time remaining until arrival, arrival time, and total miles until arrival, etc. (The Garmin Navigator app presented similar trip information but it was less readily visible than the Garmin app). My decision to purchase the DriveSmart 65 was influenced by the fact that it was only incrementally more expensive than the 55, and it provided me with more screen real estate for a few extra bucks. In computer hardware It looks amazing on the screen! The resolution is excellent and the image is very All the brightness is on while I am working (I keep it at the maximum setting). This is what I call the Since I like to keep all of the trip data tools visible on the screen. However, I also want to have plenty of room to see the map or navigation, which is the most important part for me. The screen appears to be glass and hopefully scratch resistant, but I am It features a minimal bezel in the frame, which adds to its aesthetics but can also make accidental touches easy when trying to adjust the location or angle of the unit. Using the touchscreen is a snap, and there is little lag when using the menus, which is to be expected for a device in this price range. No matter how poor my hearing is, the speaker is loud and clear. Neither I nor my tester know what processor this unit has, but I hope it is an upgrade from last year's. In my opinion, it's smart to get the best hardware you can afford, especially if you plan on keeping the device for some time to make sure that it can run the software updates effectively. The power cord is plugged into the back of the device, as is the case with all Garmin devices. In order to edit or work with the device on a desk or flat against something, the device should be plugged into the side or bottom, since having the power cord protrude out the back makes it difficult to mount it flat or lay it on its back. It works well for mounting on a window, but seems to lose its suction ability over time and falls off the windshield. The mount is a standard Garmin, which works fine for mounting on a window. In this regard, I bought one of Garmin's friction dash mounts, and it seems to be working just fine for the moment. It claims to last for an hour, but I have not disconnected it from a power source for that long when using it, so I cannot state how it performs on its own. TYPE OF SOFTWARE The application is easy to use and is very effective. With Garmin's years of experience in the industry, a lot of bugs have been worked out. The topographic map option provides a lot of detail, as its name suggests, and the high-detail menu provides a lot more variety than you may expect. It has a map which is helpful in keeping a geographic perspective. There is a zoom in/out capability on the map, as with all Garmin units, but it will automatically zoom you back in to its default setting when you zoom out with the intention of using it indefinitely. It will provide you with notifications such as text/email as they come in via your phone, so you can see them on your Additionally, the device has weather information and the capability to receive and make phone calls when paired with a compatible phone, for those who may need such an option. It is possible to update software and maps without using a computer since the device has WiFi capability. The experience with trying to update the maps in this manner has not been successful. I have seen an error code each time and the process has been aborted. I'm not sure why, maybe my internet connection isn't that great In high demand However, I'm not completely certain of the speed. The number of other people who face the same issue would be nice to know. It is still necessary to sync the maps with a PC to keep them up to date. A final thought As expected from Garmin, the device offers good performance. A very accurate navigation system and an excellent route planning system. Navigation on this device is very good, with a bright and detailed screen. I like the size of this one - The location. The price is much higher than Garmins that are lower end, and I am not convinced that the features offered are beneficial enough to justify the cost. However, the display and performance are excellent, so if the processor is better than this year's model, it is still a good buy. I RECOMMEND THIS I'm pleased to have a standalone navigator again, rather than having to use my phone as my primary navigation device. Though I mentioned above there were some issues with the purchase, I am still happy with the purchase. This would be my first choice for a stand alone navigation tool, and I recommend it to anyone looking for one.

Overheating occurs in the product
3/5

This product was designed to be placed on the dashboard of the vehicle when in use, but it overheats and ceases to function I took this picture in early Spring when it was less than 80 degrees outside. However, what is even more frustrating is being told by Amazon that they will not replace the product because although it was less than 3 months since it was purchased, it was over the one-month return/exchange.

It is disappointing
3/5

My return is just around the corner. This is frustrating You must search for street address before city and state, even if you are looking for something in the same city. Searching POI will randomly give you options in other states when you forget to input your city first. You must only use the arrow buttons on the left I accidentally touched the screen hoping to scroll, but it went to a totally different screen instead. At the beginning of every trip, you should also In the guidelines, it says to proceed to the start of your route, but does not specify This is sometimes okay once you start moving, but particularly unhelpful when you are not familiar with the environment. Lastly, the following is unacceptable When I was sitting perpendicular to a highway, it wouldn't let me know if I was supposed to turn right or left. It is simply to proceed to a road not listed on a map, no matter how many times I zoom.

Not a Help, Just Hinderance
3/5

Many looks and a total disappointment! So where do I begin? Our Nuvi GPS has been with us since several years ago. Our Lady has served us well over the years, and we have affectionately referred to her as "the lady. ". The person would get angry when we diverted from the path, for instance when we stopped at a gas station or restaurant. Her screen went black during those days when she was happy. The day after yesterday was a blur. The Garmin DriveSmart 65 & 60 can be seen on this device The traffic jam- You can only refer to me by name. The handset did not include a cord for updating the traffic data. After updating the software and charging the battery, it was ready for its first test. The first task was to set the handset to local channels. I chose to go with the option "current location" after the "lady" recognized our home address. DriveSmart accepted 9547, but W9547 (see below), so I chose to use our address. Our exact location is known to it, right (proceed reading)? When I used the address number E809 to locate the destination, it was not located. It's your turn to host There was no dice, so 809 CR, Elmwood is yours. Choosing a direction from East to West is not available. From that point on, it was downhill. The message was telling us to turn back when we knowingly made the correct turn. I wonder if the ship had planned an additional route we weren't aware of. This would have been a reset path by the Nuvi. I noticed when I was about 6 miles from my destination that it started getting directions correctly- My GPS told me to take a right turn and go straight while it suggested I take the left turn. We turned right at the final road when it instructed us to do so. In this way, we ended up in an eight-mile Getting back to the basics, we stopped in a gas station to ask for The right turn should have been made rather than left. Having followed directions from the farmers at the gas station, we made it to our destination. It would be so nice to have a new GPS device! Finally, it was time to go I was able to set it up easily after preseting "Home". Good to hear! The directions got us out of town in the right direction until we reached the Driving with DriveSmart indicates we turn right (North), but we were heading left (South) when we first arrived. In the direction of due south, we turn left with our digital dash compass. The Drive Smart concedes after repeated requests that it return to proper course after being prompted to do so multiple times - There will be another major intersection after that. The DriveSmart device indicates that you should turn right We know we need to turn left, so we know As of this point, I had challenged DriveSmart based on our in-depth knowledge In addition to using the in-dash GPS (which was not entirely trustworthy), we examined the dash-mounted GPS. The people at DriveSmart want us to go back, but one again they concede. Having arrived at our home address, we are heading home. This is an in-depth look at As we are approaching our destination to the right, the dash tells us it has arrived. Turn left on the next street and continue on the DriveSmart until you reach I can say without further ado that Garmin does not exist anymore. I like the fact that the screen is sharp and bright, and the touch screen is responsive. Most of the features are excellent as well. If a GPS is unable to accept and transmit information logically, the device is of no use at all for.

The routing process
4/5

Routers on this unit are not very pleasing to the eye. Trying to get to this place may take you to some strange locations that might be simpler to reach.

Having used several Garmin GPS units, this is a great device
5/5

I particularly like the clean look of this one. The shape is slender and not bulky. There is a lot of sharpness and clarity in the device graphics. There is a slight difference in font size between the older versions, which for me is very helpful. I really like the way it's written.
