It should work if the xfr app is available in the Amazon appstore; I haven't tried it yet. However, you can email results from the app to review later if you're using it from your phone. If you own a mag speed, this is a must-have!
Although I have not used the V3 chronograph, I do own the Sporter and the XFR. Individual velocity, average velocity, and standard deviation are all available on the XFR and smart phone for the last 15 or 20 shots, depending on my memory. br>br> The XFR works great for the most part; however, the connection is sensitive to plugs rotating in their sockets; you may experience data errors if you move the phone and control box around; however, the data is not lost; it simply won't display properly. br>br>I've used the magnetospeed and other chronographs, and I believe the magnetospeed with the xfr box is the best option for a quality and more budget-conscious chronograph; it's not much more than a typical optical chronograph, and it doesn't have any of the issues that the older designs do.
I'm not sure about the Note4, but I have a Samsung S6 and it works fine; sometimes you have to fiddle with the volume on the phone to dampen the magnetospeed adjustment, but it works.
It appears to be limited to the V3 and Sporter models.

Connecting my MagnetoSpeed to my phone was a great idea, but it didn't work out for me. Because I have a V3, I can easily see the data - Rather than ejecting the card and using it on my computer/mac, I wanted to transfer the data to my phone. br>br>From the standpoint of usability You'd have to take your series of shots, then disconnect your chrono, connect to your phone, and download them. I'm hoping for an upgraded V3 module with bluetooth connectivity to connect to an app on my phone. My bayonet does not need to be upgraded. br>br>I tried it on my Samsung S8 and a few different iPad models. Different volumes were tried, the module was placed next to the phone or iPad, and different connections and app opening and syncing sequences were tried. No luck - Returning and the card will simply be ejected, which is a disappointment.
Makes using the magnetospeed chronograph much easier; simply shoot all of the shots you want to measure, then plug in the phone, and it displays all of the velocity data, including extreme spread, standard deviation, lowest velocity, highest velocity, and average velocity, all in one place without the need to press and hold any buttons. br>br> My only gripe was the lack of instructions; you get a cable and a small box; I assumed you plugged the box into the chronograph display, but it's actually for the phone. I had to fiddle with it for a minute before it worked. br>br> Oh well, it appears that there is a small card with that crucial piece of information on it. So don't worry about it, this thing is fantastic.
I had a lot of trouble getting this to work on my iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 Plus. When it's ready, it'll work. You must set your phone volume to at or below 50% and then it works at or below 50% and then it works sometimes but not always . It's really not necessary because the app is so basic. For me, it's just easier to write down and log the information that way. This item would have been returned if I hadn't thrown away the packaging.
However, think about whether or not you truly require it. This app is fantastic and does exactly what it claims to do: it displays shot information on your phone. Having said that, I don't use it very often. I bought the Sporter and thought I needed the XFR to view all of the data because of the smaller display, but the Sporter display has all of the same information and is simple to cycle through to get your Average, Standard Deviation, Extreme Spread, and each individual shot data in your group simply by pressing the button. The XFR is great if you want to view the data on one screen with your phone, but you must unplug it from the MagSpeed and plug it into your phone to view each shot series, so think about it!.
According to the MagnetoSpeed website, the XFR will only work with iPhones 6 and up. However, if you use Apple's lighting to 3. The XFR connects to my iPhone 11 Pro Max via a 5mm connector and works flawlessly. The app allows you to edit shot groups and add notes, which is extremely useful for remembering what happened at the range later. The XFR and the app have both exceeded my expectations.
With all due respect to the creators of this excellent product, it should have been included in the kit rather than being an optional extra. It has made data collection and analysis much more straightforward.
I was thinking about selling my magnetospeed sporter and getting a V3, but now that I have this adapter, I don't think I need to. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7 and it's working flawlessly. This enables you to use the magnetospeed app on your phone to read data from the sporter more quickly. You can save your strings on your phone so you don't have to go through the data of your shot strings by pressing buttons on the chronograph. Simply connect this to your phone, and the data will be downloaded in a matter of seconds. Changes to the chronograph can also be made much more easily with the app than with the chronograph itself. As an add-on to the sporter, I would highly recommend it. The user-friendliness of the chronograph is completely altered.
It requires some effort to get started. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it, but once you do, you can get data from the chronograph faster and save the offload to the microsd card, and it fits easily in the same bag as the magneto speed. br>br>The only real criticism I have is that it's a little finicky to get started with, especially if you don't use the chronograph very often. It just has to be done a certain way.
