Once you turn up the volume dial to make the megaphone louder than shouting, it just catches its own feedback and lets out a loud roar A screech of high pitch. As it was on a wrist strap, it was easy to hang it off my belt so I could drop it intermittently to have my hands free. The battery cover and latching mechanism are almost universally the first point where a larger model will break over the years, followed by the cone. I've worked on larger models at various manufactures, in the $100-plus range, over the years. Although the megaphone's battery cover is nothing more than a plastic projection that interlocks with another plastic piece, the latch seems durable enough to last for a while. Not forever, I'm sure, but long enough that I would not expect to lose money buying one. In the event that the latch breaks, I am not sure if the battery cover can be replaced. As for the cone, it seems thick enough to withstand being repeatedly set down and then picked right back up. It did have a few things I didn't like, but otherwise I liked it. The volume indicates that settings from 1 to 10 can be adjusted. However, numbers 1 through 5 do not emit any waves. At setting 6, your own voice is louder than the waves, then at setting 7, the waves are loud enough to be heard from It does not matter which volume setting number is selected, because the siren setting is extremely loud. Sirens can be accidentally activated when a small brush is applied to the switch. I accidentally activated the siren three times during five hours of using this megaphone at a dock during a regatta when I was constantly switching to using my hands to direct boat arrivals and I meant to use the megaphone instead. Duct tape was all it took to turn it off. Last but not least, the first time I put batteries in it, I didn't realize that I hadn't seated the battery compartment inside the unit completely There was a slight gap between its original position and it's current Taking a half hour to figure out why the battery compartment lid was not snapping on took me quite some time. There is an ideal combination of power and size in this megaphone. You can easily move it around because it is lightweight. While it is powerful enough and has good voice projection, it is also not overly powerful. The build quality appears to be quite good. However, it does have a power siren, not the "song" programs found in some of these systems. There is a problem with that the button is easy to accidentally click on, so I decided to tape it so that I wouldn't key it by accident. Although I find it best to set the volume at "8" as opposed to full power, the volume adjustment works fine. All in all, I am happy with the product. I have been working on an update - Batteries covered in this manner are not pleasing. There is often a tendency for it to come apart and requires effort to keep it in place. I think it wasn't the best idea to place the battery pack under the microphone but the rest of the unit is fine.

I ordered this item for a block party, the product was exactly what was described, even though I was not aware what it would be. I thought it was very powerful and loud. The product did what the advertisement said it would do, so I kept it. I had ordered two other items and returned them, but this one I kept because it fulfilled my needs.

There is nothing better than a little megaphone like this. The microphone is extremely loud and has very good clarity when speaking through it. If you need to activate the siren, make sure that you do so carefully. I'd be scared if I heard that! It's so loud and will cause me to frighten! Upon receiving the item, I was surprised at how sturdy it was built. I am very happy Anyone who needs a megaphone ought to take a look at this. I have small hands, so it fits well in there. I've played with it for a long time and my four year old can handle it easily.

There is more than enough volume here. It's been a lot of fun buying this and I'm having a lot of fun using It comes with a very powerful siren and a great microphone as well.
