Questions & Answers

Are you able to run it on ?

There is a problem with this version when used with Windows 10.

Do you have to run the program on the computer since I am trying to reset my password because I am infected with a virus?

While it has been a while since I used it, I believe it must be loaded If you have access to your Restore feature, you may try doing a Restore and loading Drive Scrubber afterward. I see someone else had a problem with the CD, which can happen, but I was able to use it most of the time. If this is not possible, you could load it onto another computer and connect it to your computer using a USB cable, and then delete your own.*br>If you have any other questions, you might contact the manufacturer.

Are you installing?

Install the software by clicking on the install button, then enter your User ID as well as serial number. While overwriting the contents of a file appears to remove the file name, it doesn't seem to eliminate its name. It appears that the contents of a word document titled 'My Resume' has been removed from most programs that access deleted files, but the document itself still shows up in most programs that access deleted files. My preference is for the file to be removed completely. There was an error in the name, or at least the name appears to be overwritten. As I check it ramdomly before I give the PC away, I'm still thinking about it's effectiveness

Is it possible to use a disc ?

It can be used on up to three occasions, I believe.

Personal data can no longer be deleted just by deleting the account
3/5

My laptop had personal data on it, so I bought it to delete it before I sold There is no longer a way to use that function. When I tried to load it on the computer and did not see that feature, I contacted the company. The feature has been removed several years ago, according to what I was told. In spite of that, the box indicates that it is still available for purchase. When it comes to this software, the only option is to delete all data, the operating system, and every part of it. As a result, I have no choice but to pay the full cost of the IF you intend to keep your current operating system, DO NOT buy this.

The majority of these file deletion programs will deceive you by claiming that they will clean up free space
3/5

It is pretty much necessary to perform a full wipe in order to securely wipe a disk without causing any damage to it physically. That means everything on the disk, including the OS, is scrubbed. There is a lot of clutter on computers. Other files and temp files are left all over the place. You should be able to locate these files if you are confident of finding them If you plan to donate your computer, first delete all of these files, then use this program to wipe free space while keeping your OS intact. It is not a task that I believe I can accomplish, and I would advise you against it as well. There are a few things to consider if you are donating or starting from scratch This is 1. Just wipe the entire operating system and DLL from the computer if you intend to give it away and it does not need an OS (for a tax write off for example). 1. 2. want to start with an existing database, you can use You should use the reinstall program to fix your purchased computer (removing a tough virus for example) Original operating system discs include the option to format. Drive Scrub should be installed and all free space should be wiped. This product will assist you in erasing sensitive information securely without having to format your computer. My guess is that it just comes down to personal taste. Several of the free programs online allow you to use one pass for free. However, if you want more, you have to purchase the program. One pass should suffice for the majority of users. It has one disadvantage that I do not like -- I have to have internet access to install the program If you're trying to wipe an old windows 95 or 98 device you discovered while cleaning the basement, this isn't an option. Apart from that, at least you can phone support if you run into trouble. Freebies online don't have support except through message boards where blind people lead blind people. This week's update While there are many free programs available, you still have to put in a few hours or at least two to accomplish the task using even a basic one pass. As a result, the deep scan option will wipe every free space, while the quick scan option will only erase files that have already been deleted, speeding up the process enormously. The extent to which those programs can be used depends on the individual and the level of paranoia that they are given. Regarding the people who gave one star to this app, I would guess that they have a problem with their computer not the application. Are you certain that you have defragmented your drive and run a checkdisk or better yet, If the drive is fragmented badly (NTFS M$ problem) or have errors, the drive will fail at some point regardless of how well you 'take care of your computer'. The computers being wiped are most likely very old and the chances of a drive failure are very high. There's a good chance that the program won't be able to wipe if there are bad sectors on the HD. There are a few programs out there that will quarantine these bad sectors but they are still recoverable after the process has been completed. The following are the updates for Update When I used the boot disc to wipe an old 80GB hard drive it failed. It said it would take 120 hours to run the fastest method, 1 pass. But when I let it run overnight, it said it did not take that long. We were going to need 120 hours to complete this process. This is simply not acceptable. Using the free program Killdisk, it took me 20 minutes after Two other free programs took about two hours each with three passes each. It took me the same amount of time each time I inserted the disk Drive Scrub. It is not a good idea to buy this program if you want to wipe a disk to zeroes. Use a Linux CD or free software on the market instead of purchasing software. I dropped this product from four stars to three due to the length of time it took to perform a complete wipe. I am okay with it.

A dead body was found upon Using the authorization code that was provided with the scrubber, the drive could not be authorized
3/5

A representative of the company told me that I had to purchase almost $200 worth of services from them before I could authorize the purchase. There is probably nothing more than $50 worth of value in my old laptop. To protect my privacy, I destroyed the hard drive instead of signing up for the subscription. However, the software still does not work, and I have no idea whether Amazon will still take it back.

It is a disc sander
3/5

There are a lot of people here with whom I disagree. If all you wish to clean is forty or fifty percent of your hard drive, this program will be great for you. In contrast, removing the whole thing in a single stroke wouldn't be so cool if you are selfish and expect it all Buying two or three is a good idea. In other words, you can erase until it gets stuck then replace the disc with a new one until you are looking at a completely clean computer hard drive. I like the design of the box. The idea would have been useful to me if I had thought of it first.

Laptops with the Vaio brand do not work with the software
3/5

Laptops with the Vaio brand do not work with the software. In addition to being a boot disk, the DVD included in the product claims this. There is no recognition of the product disk by the system. A floppy disk is required to create a boot Alternatively, you can use a CD. Neither a DVD nor a CD is available.

Has a problem with cleaning? As of now, I cannot scrub the files after purchasing this software
3/5

Some kind of deal was made with Microsoft by the manufacturer. It doesn't seem to do anything at the moment. Refunds were given to me when I returned it.

It is uncertain

The previous review is being erased and a new one is being written I am changing my rating from 2 to 5 From 3 to 5 stars I give it a STAR (means In light of the fact that I think the program may work as advertised, I also bought a second year of use. In order to restore my old computer to like new condition, I used Drive Scrubber to get rid of everything on the hard drive of one of my older computers. Then I used the software that came with the old computer to restore it to that Whether or not criminal investigators, or unauthorized data recovery experts, can restore the data I believe they have erased is unknown to me. I don't care about it, at least not in this particular case. You need to realize that, although I can claim success, I cannot prove it. There's no doubt it's not ideal. For one thing, when I analyze a disk before erasing deleted data, it ends up with tons of garbage. The text cannot be read as it is printed on it. An error in the program is clearly evident here. Both the original and the new copies of it did exist in the first copy I installed - I removed the first copy, and the new copy was the same as I still can't see the latest version of the program despite downloading it. I could very well be the cause of this glitch because my computer or software may have corrupted it. Unfortunately, I am just not experienced enough with computers to know one method or another. Anyway, the program is free, uses relatively little computer resources, and may function as it should. There is no way that I can be certain. It is up to you to take your chances after paying your money.
