Selected User Reviews For Norton Save and Restore V2.0

It is purpose of Save and Restore that I purchased it to back up all three computers' hard drives
5/5

I purchased a 3 user copy of this program quite a few years ago, bundled with Norton 360. Whenever I change anything regarding my data files (My documents, my email, my Explorer favorites, the latest downloaded files, music and picture files), Norton 360 makes incremental backups. After my taxes are complete, the tax data is burned to three different CDs, and the hard drive is backed up.

Complete drive backups by S&ampA. Every four months, R tests are performed. A total of 18 backups have been made without any problems on the three computers. Some of the problems mentioned by others here might not have affected me since my needs are fairly straightforward. Windows XP Home or Professional is the only operating system for which comments can be made about its use with Vista. A hard drive on my notebook computer was recently replaced, and Save and Restore ran smoothly after the replacement. Since this was a planned replacement, I did an instant save and restore without having to match the partitions on the new and larger drive. I skipped using the incremental backup from 360 since this was a planned replacement. I is a poor planning on my part, because there was a fully functioning 360 drive on which I should have carried out the 360 backups. Above is the generic logic behind my backup program in case you are interested. The first and most important observation I would like to make is that my computers are not related to my business except for a few Due to the fact that a large number of music and picture files keep being added to, the following backup procedure has been implemented. Images and music added to the computer go into the picture and music In Norton 360, these are those that are backed up. A complete backup of your drive is conducted four times per year using S&C The R program has been completed. Copying the picture and music files to the Bmusic and Bpicture folders is necessary before getting started. All of the files in the music and pictures folders are deleted following a successful backup. Additionally, any software downloaded or installed from a CD or DVD is also stored separately and moved once a total backup is completed. Although it sounds complicated, I have been able to complete this task quite easily and it has always worked

A drive backup should be taken on at least one drive for a complete drive backup. The size of the drive being backed up is five times larger. There will be enough space for two copies of the backup drives to be created using the default standard and small program You can understand this in settings R. When a backup fails, it is best to always keep a backup copy at least twice as safe as the first copy. As soon as I got the S&L, I made two backups with the same data A four-month cycle of deleting and replacing the oldest backup is followed by the R program. There can be a big difference in the time it takes to backup a disk drive depending not just on its capacity, but also on how many files are contained. It doesn't just depend on the speed of the drives that are being backed up. It also depends on the speed of the drives that your backup is being written to, and the CPU speed. Approximately 7 MB/s is the speed of SATA II external hard drives. Backup speed may not be as fast as a USB drive, but it's five times faster than a USB drive. There are systems in which a USB drive can perform five times as fast as one due to the weakest link. * Be sure to keep a copy of the Save and Recover program disk in a safe place. It would be impossible to make any backup without this disc. In addition, it'd be a good idea for you to boot your computer from the backup disc at least once to see if it's going to work when you need it. I wish you the best of luck.

All of my PC assemblies and software installations are handled by me at my company, thus I have a great deal of experience in this area
3/5

The experience and troubleshooting that I have are 9 out of 10 and I am not bragging about it. My intention was to install this tool in order to create a simple "ONE TIME Backup" for a newly formatted OS of Vista, which it partially did. A PC had trouble booting the recovery CD, as it was unable to get to the Norton Menu required to recover As a result, I reached out to Symantic, and what followed was pure sanity. Firstly, there was an unsolved issue called Driver Mining when trying to create the recovery CD, which should have been easy as pie. Due to a failure of one PC to boot from the Save and Restore CD, a CD had to be created. As of now, after 5 phone calls to Norton, they are still investigating this issue, but it seems that they have NO IDEA what is happening with the software.
I have 3 PCs with the Save and Restore features and they are ALL experiencing these Driver Mining problems. On one of the computers, even XP is running, so the problem must be Further to that, I ran Norton security's Virus protection as well as McAffee thinking maybe Mcaffee had something to do with it. Afterward, I found out I was experiencing catastrophic crashes now when I had installed Save and Restore while Norton Internet Security was in the background. After removing Norton security, I was able to get the program to work. It seems these people are unable to even work with their own software. As a result, they offered me a New Version of Ghost, as they had not returned my calls for the past four days. As far as I am concerned, this company has already passed into history and shouldn't even be considered for any software. Since they rudely did not return calls and I spent countless hours with them for nothing, I have decided to end my relationship with Symantic. My view of their Internet Security used to be positive many years ago, but not any longer. In the event that you do not require the Recovery CD, then I guess this could work for you, but it just proves to me that Microsoft cannot produce software that works. If corporate business doesn't keep Symantic alive, you are buying this at your own risk. I think Symantic is going the way of most pathetic companies rather soon.

This is the ideal software for both beginners and experts
4/5

With this program, you can almost do everything related to backing up You can store anything from data files and directories to whole disk images, partitions, and programs. Moreover, the timing and sources for backups can be adjusted manually or automatically with practically infinite variations so that they meet the needs of the user. Definitely worth the money! There are a variety of wizards and screens for beginners, ranging all the way all the way to advanced screens and options for experts. Two sessions of live text support were ineffective on my complicated boot issue, but escalated to a third, live phone support session, which solved the issue. Windows XP's drive copy feature is a great tool for upgrading a HDD - it works as advertised The OEM recovery disc or your own legal copy of WinXP will do, provided you can run WinXP Repair. It's not possible to boot into XP from a cloned disk if you do not have the OEM recovery disk, or if your partitions have been changed since you created the OEM recovery In the manual, I would like more detailed explanations of incremental file backups (based on file attributes), as well as more detailed information on how to perform them.

Here are some tips on how to choose a backup program
4/5

Despite its simplicity, the application is easy to use and install. The last backup program I used was confusing, and their tech support was unavailable when I needed it the most. I don't expect that to be a problem with Norton's support as my first back up ran flawlessly, and it was so much faster than my last one. ordered an additional copy for my netbook, as I am very satisfied with it so far.

Must be adapted to work with network storage systems
4/5

Overall, we can say The program 2- has been added and deleted You should repeat it three It was helpful to visit the Norton. com/Symantec site. The system is working as it should. A wireless update is a wonderful thing. The time it takes to update will be reduced with incremental.
