It can be difficult to keep children entertained while also providing them with educational opportunities. This is where Reader Rabbit comes in handy. For years, I've relied on this as a resource. It is popular among children because it is entertaining. It's great because they're learning while having fun.

Despite the fact that other reviews claimed the game wouldn't work on Windows 7, I decided to give the seller the benefit of the doubt and give it a shot because the item information stated that it was compatible with Windows 7. As a result, I've decided to join the chorus. IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL! Even in compatibility mode, Windows 7 is a 32 or 64 bit operating system, and it will not run a 16 bit program like this. I'm fairly tech-savvy (at least in comparison to the majority of people), so I figured I could make it work where others couldn't. I tried everything, and I've been coaxing and cajoling my computer for hours in an attempt to get it to work, but it's still not working. I tried every trick I could find online to get it to work, but I kept running into the same issue: it's a 16-bit game, and a 32-bit or 64-bit operating system simply won't work. I even installed a Virtual Machine app, which simulates an older computer, only to discover that it still required me to install the old Windows 95 operating system in order to function. On Amazon, the operating system disk costs around $30. So, in order to play a $5 game that I bought for my kindergartener, I'd have to either buy another $30 piece of software or buy a brand new (older) computer. What a waste of time; I'm completely let down. I was super pumped about this game because it's the one I learned to read from as a kid, and I couldn't wait to show it to her, especially since she's a huge video game fan. We're both a little disappointed right now. I wish I had paid attention to the other reviews that said it wasn't compatible with Windows 7, as it would have saved me some money. Don't bother with this unless you have an older computer, such as one running Windows XP or earlier. It's just a major pain in the neck and a waste of time and money:.

Be careful who you buy from. Reader Rabbit, I'm afraid I'm going to have to tell you that you're This DVD- The ROM does not work on my iMac, which is running OS X 10. It was a huge let down. Also, keep an eye out for the 30-day challenge. For this seller, there is a 14-day return window. I was unaware of this, and as a result, I am unable to obtain a refund. My 5-year-old daughter enjoys playing these games at the library, so I wanted her to be able to play them at home as well. Maybe I'll be able to trace circles with this DVD?.

On newer computers, graphics aren't as good. Windows 7 is my current operating system. It did, however, run, which is exactly what I was hoping for! Reader Rabbit is how I learned to read, and my kids adore it!.

I bought this software for my four-year-old, who is just learning to read, after reading many positive reviews. The product disappointed me greatly. br>br>For starters, it did not come with any installation or use instructions. We figured it out because the installation was fairly standard. The game's use, on the other hand, was not so straightforward, and we had to learn by trial and error. It took about a half-hour to complete, but having the instructions would have been extremely beneficial. Second, the software includes books for the child to read, but these books are read to the child automatically. There is no way to disable the feature so that the child can read it for herself (unless I haven't yet discovered a way to do it without the instructions). br>br>Then there's a character who speaks with a foreign accent. My daughter began to say words in that character's voice, such as "bed" rather than "bad. " " I thought this was a terrible idea for children who are learning to decode words. Finally, the program seemed to move at a glacial pace to me. The game is designed in such a way that the child must complete each area before moving on to the next. Because the games contain so much animation, it takes a long time to complete one area before moving on to the next. There isn't a way to get around the animation. So a child may only need 2 seconds to correctly answer a question, but she must then watch for 10 seconds. After 15 seconds of animation, you'll be able to see the next issue. My daughter found it interesting at first, but after that, she became bored with seeing the same animation after each problem. This might work for a child who enjoys watching television but despises phonics, but my daughter is determined to learn to read, so this was not an option for her. This software is not something I would recommend.

It is compatible with Windows XP: We've started learning about word families at school, so it's great that this software covers it. I sit next to my daughter and use the software to teach her lessons. My children ask if she can use the computer every night after the teacher's homework is completed. love it.

Phonics are a problem for my child. We bought this game in the hopes of instilling in him a love of words and phonics. It had the desired effect. On his phonics and language tests, he is improving. He's now on his way to pass them. He likes to read and is currently working on a novel. This was an excellent purchase, and the previous reviews are accurate.

They've had a lot of success with this disk. RR is a favorite of both my recently turned five and six-year-old daughters. This disk is a big hit, and they're fighting over it for com p tier time. A fantastic tool for educating children and allowing them to constructively interact with one another.
