If this is what you're looking for, look elsewhere because this isn't the game for you. This is the game for you if you want a game with a lot of noise and movement, as well as a very small amount of math added in an awkward way. This is by far the worst math program for my son, as someone who actually wanted a math game for my child to practice math with. You must run around and jump from ledge to ledge in order to catch numbers that add up to the correct answer, as others have pointed out. That means you spend almost all of your time attempting to catch numbers, even if you know the correct answer. br>br>There may be lines to play this at some people's homes, but I guarantee those kids aren't getting much math practice. Nice idea for a game, abysmal execution.
I bought this thinking it was a newer version of a Mathblaster computer game my older children used to have. They thought it was a useful review tool. This new Mathblaster, on the other hand, is not the same as the previous one. It is attempting to appeal to modern children who play video games, but there is far too much gaming and very little math. It doesn't really review much math, so I'm not happy with it at all. Because it's essentially just another video game, my 9-year-old son enjoys it. However, he rarely uses it.
3 minutes of trying to come up with numbers that add up to what you think the answer is, then jumping back to the bottom to see if your answer is correct is boring and stupid; I want my child to be able to answer it right away, not jump around for minutes and then check if they have the correct answer. I bought six different math games that turned out to be made by this company, and they are all terrible; don't waste your time and money on the Math Blaster series or The Learning Company games. Look for math games on the internet that you can try before you buy; most of the free ones are far superior to this.
I work with students in 3rd grade who are from the inner city. They really enjoy this game because it is an action game. They get to shoot things that get in their way, and the game will slow down if the child requires more time; however, I can't say that this program works because the kids have only recently started using it. What I can say is that the game improves hand-eye coordination, mental math skills, and math fact recall. This game is recommended because it addresses the previous points while also making learning enjoyable.
Some aspects of division and multiplication are proving difficult for my granddaughter. It took her a while to figure out how to play, but once she did, she was hooked. We use it as a reward for her doing her homework, chores, and other responsibilities, and she loves it! This will be a winner if she enjoys the game enough to learn the concepts she needs to advance levels.
This is something I bought for my two sons, ages 6 and 8, to help them improve their memory math skills and develop speed. What a waste of time. Even if they know the answer quickly, finding the correct answer in the game can take a minute. Every time you play, you must begin at the beginning and work your way back to the point where you left off. It's good for review, but it takes a long time to get to the levels where you really need to practice. I wish I had bought something else.
It's something that my daughter enjoys and is eager to learn more about.
"Master the Basics," it states right on the box. " This is FRAUDULENT ADVERTISEMENT! This game teaches my child absolutely no math. Because that is all there is to it - It's all in good fun. And the game is utterly dreadful! This is the game to buy if you want a cheesy video game. LOOK ELSEWHERE IF YOU NEED MATHEMATICAL ASSISTANCE FOR YOUR CHILD!.
