Selected User Reviews For Microsoft Visio Professional 2003 OLD VERSION
It is the best diagramming program I have ever used. The current version is much worse than the new one.
Millcreek Media is a great company to work with. I am impressed with the level of service. During the last few weeks I have been in need of some software for a project coming up. In the week leading up to the weekend, I placed my order. It was expected that I would receive my order in the middle of January The order was waiting for me when I got home late Monday night. I purchased a used software package that was just as advertised, "Used - Under warranty" As good as new". All functions of the software are I thought the price was very reasonable.
The product is what was.
What I was hoping for.
Designing flowcharts and designing rooms and furniture with this application is easy and convenient.
There are many good features in the right hand panel, but most of them have disappeared in the pro version. It deserves a rating of 3, despite its good features. For the development of system requirements, I use Visio 2003 Pro for its capabilities for general diagramming and informal data modeling and process modeling. Years ago, I used the simple data flow model diagram in Visio 2000, but 2003 does not permit the use of "models" As of now, there is only a picture, and no reusable elements. Among the pluses Currently, there are some good screen layout options. However, the reverse is still an option The following are weaknesses Database engineers'
Better shape and pattern manipulation
Transparency in shape
Minuses Removed the explorer and modeling capabilities for Data Flow Model diagrams, requiring Visual Studio. No longer exports ERWIN ERX files, or saves to Visio 5 format (only 2002). There were a lot of file converters and import tools removed during the discovery
I strongly recommend that you read Microsoft's report on "What you won't find in Microsoft Office Visio 2003. ".
Visualization with Visio has always been an excellent solution for the creation of technical diagrams. The new version 2003 also enhances the functionality of the predecessor, adding support for the web and integration with other Office programs. There are still a few elements missing from the program that I would like to see. Using the native AutoCAD tools in Visio, users can customize and edit drawings to their hearts' content as they import native CAD drawings into the program. Over a corporate network, you can create custom stencils, save them and share them with other Visio users. Diagrams can be exported as webpages so that users who don't have Visio installed locally on their machine can view them through a web browser at different resolutions regardless of their computer's operating system. Diagrams for Active Directory role outs can be created for both Windows 2000 Server and Windows Server 2003 with the program. In the case of SQL Server or a third-party database such as Oracle or IBM DB2, it may be possible to use Visio functionality to outline a company's data storage through active diagrams that automate the way data is stored. As well as creating simple project management tasks, you can export other Visio diagrams to PowerPoint that can be edited further in PowerPoint, or in Word that you can further edit. You can also search for stencils in other elements of the program and locate that particular diagram faster. There are still some elements missing from Visio, such as native support for WordArt. Overall, Visio 2000 or Visio 5 users should upgrade as soon as possible. Visio 2003 offers new technologies and functionality that will likely be of interest to 0 users, but some 2002 users may not require all of its functionality and may wait to see if their diagramming and network infrastructure needs require it before upgrading to 2003.
One of our staff members had some experience with an older version of Visio and we had a quick response need to develop a complex interconnection diagram. A combination of serious Power Point and Excel skills (as well as Amazom's overnight delivery) gave us a very good looking and working second revision within 48 hours. We are very satisfied so far.
