It was a pleasant surprise to find out that I received assistance quickly when I called tech support. Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that it was Thanksgiving day. I was pleased to find that the product installed correctly without any problems. When I successfully installed the old product before I introduced the new one, I was able to remove the prior version of the software from the computer. This may have caused the installation problem. Last time I installed the program, I selected to keep both the new and old versions. It's been a while since I used the new version, but I like the Bates numbering feature, and the program runs much faster than the prior version.
