Questions & Answers

I recently purchased a new DELL XPS computer that runs Windows 8. Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013, as well as Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013; 64 bit. Is this download compatible with my system?

It ought to function correctly. I built in the same general style as you: a mid- Dell laptops running Windows 8 (not 8.1). 1) 64- Office Home and Student 2013, as well as a little bit more. After that, I added Outlook 2013. Outlook 2013 was/is a significant improvement over my previous Outlook version 2003, and it was/is well worth the $100 I paid for it.

Is there a more suitable email client for Windows 8?

Outlook 2010 is the program that I use. It's a much more effective program. You could also try Incredimail, which is completely free.

Every six months or so, I purchase a new notebook or desktop computer. How do I transfer the license to my new PCs when they arrive in 8 months?

Remove the program from the old computer using the control panel. Then, in order to install Outlook, use the install key you were sent. Because only one copy of Outlook is active, the gods at Microsoft will allow it, and if they object, you should be able to explain that this is a reinstall on a new computer.

Do I get a product key if I buy the download version?

I got an email from Office. com with a download link and instructions on how to install it without a product key. Everything is fine now that I have downloaded it.

There are issues with downloading and running the program
3/5

I used my Microsoft account to log into Office. I'd get to about 90% the MS Server would disconnect me every time I'd get to about 90 the MS Server would disconnect me about 2015 times I'd get to about 90% I downloaded the program and burned it to a disk after waiting until after midnight. After appearing to download properly, it appeared to burn properly. After that, I put it on a Dell Alien computer. My computer crashed while I was trying to run the program. I worked four days and nights to get my main PC repaired, but I was unable to do so and had to hire a repair technician. I'd rate it a zero on a scale of one to ten.

Selling email in this manner is a sham
4/5

I've been using Outlook for quite some time now. I have no objections to the program, but my recent purchase demonstrated how little someone considers the process of selling downloaded copies of software. br>As a stand-alone program, the program was purchased. Due to my bookkeeper's needs, it is not part of an office suite. who only requires email access from a single computer - invoices to be sent br>The download process necessitates the buyer's signature. Microsoft's online store is now up and running - and confirm the buyer's email address by clicking on a link sent to the buyer's email address WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL, WELL, W Isn't it reasonable to assume that if I buy Outlook, I won't have an email program with which to verify the email address? br>I had to verify the address on another computer (one that had outlook), then return to the computer that needed it to download the program. I was able to do so because I had an Outlook-enabled computer. I would have been out-of-work if I hadn't done so. luck. br>As a result, I've given the program a four-star rating - It's all about the method, not the end result.

The product is excellent, but the process is a complete disaster
3/5

Outlook 2013 is perfectly adequate- Some of the features from previous versions are missing, but it still functions well. br>br>I'm hesitant because of the download process. Buying the disk is a much better option. To download, I had to create an MSN account, go to email to activate the account, then sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign on, sign off Because the system kept telling me my password wasn't valid (despite the fact that it was exactly what I'd set up moments ago), I had to sign on three or four times and input my password a total of 14 times during the process. br>br>Product - - - - - - - - - - - - good. Process- awful.

Compared to the previous version from 2010, this one is significantly better
3/5

This version has a lot of refinements that I really like. Very easy to work with. The download and installation went without a hitch. The only issue I've had so far is with retaining the "favorites" list; specifically, it wouldn't keep the order in which I arranged it, but after some googling, I found a solution, and it's now working fine. In addition, I'm constantly being prompted to "repair" Outlook. pst file, but it's more of a annoyance than a serious problem. br>br>Update from November 2014: If you don't want your computer to be corrupted, don't buy this product. The most important parts of this software are the pst files. When I first started the program, I got an error message that said "MS Outlook could not open a specific file. " I have an "ost" file that I never use. In fact, there was no data in the file. To cut a long story short, I lost all of my contacts and calendar entries that I had accumulated over the years using Outlook. Yes, I had a backup of all of my files. I still got the same error message after I restored them. I ended up creating a new Outlook user folder, which opened without issue despite the fact that my original calendar and contact items were missing. Scanpst, Outlook's repair tool, is ineffective. In fact, it's possible that it's the root of the problem. Prior to my "outlook" collapsing completely. When I tried to delete certain messages from the "pst" file, I received a message telling me to use the scanpst utility to repair a corrupted file, which I did. The fix would only last a few days before needing another scan, and so on. Stick with an older and more reliable version unless you're willing to risk losing all of your Outlook data.

This is a step in the wrong direction

Purchasing is not recommended. I've been a long-time user of Microsoft Office and Outlook since they were first released. To keep up with the times, I upgraded to the 2013 version and purchased it through Amazon, as I do with most of my other purchases. br>br>In my opinion, the product itself provides no or very little benefit between 2007 and 2010. The product's color schemes and visualization are eye-straining and painful to look at. The product uses a lot more RAM memory than its predecessors and crashes and closes frequently. br>br>Today, I attempted to return the product and contacted Microsoft support, as they stated that if the product is returned within 30 days, a full refund will be issued. I was unable to contact Microsoft because I did not have a Microsoft purchase confirmation number because I purchased it through Amazon. I was given a number and told it was a Microsoft department for digital returns, but it turned out to be an Amazon number after being bounced between three departments. With the exception of Intuit, Amazon transferred me to a specialist, who informed me that all digital download products (with the exception of Intuit) are non-refundable. Amazon will accept returns. You also won't be able to sell the item because it's linked to your Outlook. com account (for those of you who want to give it a shot). You also don't get the full word processor (spell check) and table editing without Office 2013 (at least, that's my experience; there may be a workaround that I didn't find). I discovered this after purchasing Outlook 2013 and then deciding to purchase Office 2013. br>br>My recommendation is to avoid purchasing the product, despite Microsoft's claims that it has been updated and improved. In my case, I'll go back to 2010. If you want to test the product, I recommend purchasing it directly from Microsoft so that you can at least return it. I've been happy with Office and Amazon's products and customer service, but this is an unfortunate situation that I'd like other consumers to be aware of before making the same mistake.
