It doesn't handle everything flawlessly, but it does a decent job in general. Quicken is deserving of one star because it forces customers to pay for a subscription service in order to increase profits. Okay, I see what you're saying. However, less than a week before Quicken cripples my current 2017 edition, they remove the downloadable $79 14-month edition from Amazon. Instead, they direct you to their website, where you can get a 12-month membership for free. month version for $89 that is downloadable, or you can order a CD version from Amazon that should be available in a few weeks in all COVID-affiliated stores. The number 19 is insanity. So I'm giving Quicken a single star as a thank you for taking such good care of your customers. Eric Dunn is free to place his star in any location he wants.
After 20 years of using Quicken and watching it deteriorate into a nightmare over the last eight years, they've finally reached rock bottom with the latest version and their move away from Quicken Bill Pay, which was the only reason I stayed with it this long. There is no longer any way to schedule bills. So far, half of the accounts I've attempted to set up for payment have failed; they simply removed my old payment method, along with all of my payment information, without warning, forcing me to scramble to the new system at the end of the month, when all of my bills are due. I'm fairly certain that Quicken's developers have shorted the stock in order to profit from how bad they can make it. I don't think I've ever seen a company do a better job of ruining a once-great product. It would have been a reasonable piece of software if they had simply left it as it was 10 years ago.
And now you have to pay for it on an annual basis. br>Don't get me wrong: it's still the best commercial option, and it does a good job of tracking personal financial data. br>However, that data store format hasn't been updated or improved in years. The canned reporting is fine, but if you don't pay attention, it can be misleading. br>To say that the iif import/export file format is a hot mess is an enormous understatement. br>Technical support varies greatly, ranging from benign neglect to criminal negligence. br>I understand the need for a stagnant business to generate revenue; however, this product could be better. But, hey, I recall when software was licensed and you could install it as many times as you wanted.
Unfortunately, an annual fee is required in the never-ending subscription-based model. However, I expect to see some level of improvement and enhancements in the future. Quicken's subscription model does not include any of these features. It's the same product that was released ten years ago. If you've been using Quicken for a long time, you might think it's extortion because you can't even use basic features unless you renew. br>br>I am extremely dissatisfied.
I've been using Quicken for a long time. Since they switched to subscription pricing, this is the first time I've needed to renew. This was less expensive on Amazon than with Quicken.
I wish I had never heard of the company after they broke their promise and turned it into a mandatory subscription product, rather than one that only needed to be updated every three or so years like it used to be, plus the annual price increase.
I run a small business and only require a fraction of the features in this package. I would give it a higher rating if I were using it to its full potential, but the interface is difficult to navigate, and I migrated from Quickbooks, which was also more than I needed, and I am still undecided about this package. It does exactly what it claims to do, but it is an expensive'subscription. ' 'I don't need it updated for what I do, but when the subscription expires, they start crippling certain parts of it, or at least they did.
I haven't been able to find anything comparable. For over a decade, I have been using this product. Accounts are simple to set up and, in most cases, transactions from bank credit cards are downloaded.
