Selected User Reviews For QuickBooks Premier NonProfit Edition 2007 [OLDER VERSION]
The NonProfit version of the game has recently been released. While our grant categories have been refined to a significant extent, we have always had a challenge tracking grants expenses. I highly recommend this product to organizations that accept grants. I prepare our tax returns every year with this product and I have no doubt that the latter part of the year will also be a breeze. It's really important to tailor a training program to the needs of a particular industry.
Alternatives to the current system that are better and cheaper.
Since I wasn't familiar with quickbooks, my nonprofit asked me to switch their books over from Quicken to Quickbooks, so we gave the Nonprofit version a try. We are able to track our grants and report to our boards using standard reports thanks to the ability to create classes, customers and jobs that interact with each other. We had some difficulty putting in historical transactions since QB is an accrual accounting system which allows you to put in your bills and invoices before you have paid your money, so it took a bit longer than we expected. But I think it was worth the wait Additionally, I have now started working with two other nonprofit organizations, and they are all using Quickbooks to manage their accounting.
The program pretty much does what we want but reversing an error can be a big hassle. As a point of clarification before I begin, most of the customer service representatives were very courteous. However, they didn't have the infrastructure to provide even the most basic of services (please see below). There is nothing good about the customer support system for this product's payroll upgrade. (2) They want access to your bank account so that they can pay for the school year's (3) THEY DO NOT SEND RECEIPT! As a bookkeeper for a small non-profit, I deal with the financial records. My own credit card was used to purchase the payroll subscription. I could only get a receipt by printing the invoice on my HP1200 (oops! The really disturbing thing is that these people are supposed to be experts in accounting! When you agree to the withdrawal, you will receive only a line item on your bank statement as a receipt. What are they familiar with when it comes to Clearly that will not be the case if you purchase this product's payroll subscription. I will look for an alternative to Intuit since they seem to lack understanding of some basic principles in accounting and auditing.
For the first time I used Quickbooks (I use Quicken at home), and I found it to be a relatively seamless process. Certain features are specifically designed for those without a computer I believe they have just changed some names around (customer is now a donor) and added some reports to the site. The tech people were no help with the installation and I had trouble My time was wasted after spending one and a half days trying to find a solution. I was able to get it running with the help of my local PC guy. As well, I requested help with a report, but was unable to get it. This means I have to rate their "free" support as an absolute.
We can have more than one authorized user with different levels of access with this edition, a real benefit for an organization without a centralized IT department. Grant funding has been secured by several non-profit organizations. As a result, I am able to produce the grants reports I need for grant expenditures without worrying about making changes that would cause our bookkeeper to get paranoid.
Previously, I had only been using MS Excel spreadsheets, but now I'm more confident that Quickbooks Premier will help me keep track of the daily accounting ledger and provide me with the required weekly and monthly reports.
Excel spreadsheet export works great, and I love having the option to do that!.
