Using ground shells as pin cushions has been helpful for me. Dust has not been an issue during the filling process or as I have used the cushions.
Keeping your grandson away from nuts if he has an allergy is a serious matter. Although some dust is released after the bag has been poured from it, this product is not harmful. As well as using it in sewing to make pincushion covers.
I received a clean shipment of crushed walnut shells. Despite the fact that I use them for my pin cushions, I think they would make a good bedding for your geckos.

As a result of high ratings, I bought this for a bearded dragon, but he was not pooping, so I took him to the vet. As this substrate can cause impaction issues with reptiles, I was told to get rid of it right away. I removed the entire plant from his terrarium and did not recommend it.
This product has been reviewed by many people for reasons other than its intended use as reptile litter, which I find rather amusing. My sewing group made pin cushions in an afternoon, and I still had a half bag left over! There were 8 of us who each made 2 pin cushions, so we ended up with lots of pin cushions. It weighs a lot to me, but I'm not sure what it is I would guess that you are over 10 lbs Therefore, if you choose to use this bag, you should be prepared to make a lot of pin cushions. The rest of the bag will be useful for giving pin cushions for Christmas, so I'm sure I'll be able to use it completely.
It's really cool stuff, but my 2 year old bearded dragon had extremely painful impactions after eating the walnut beds. In the past, he has always had sand as substrate and has not consumed it. It smelt good, so I guess that it was If you do acquire this disease, I will watch your pet. The ground is very nice to walk on and does not leave dust plumes, nor does it stain or discolour your pet, like sand can. This bedding has really become a favorite of mine, so I'm disappointed. This would probably be great for other reptiles as well.
The volume of a tank that has a 20g diameter requires about half a bag. Walnut shells were a concern for me since they are considered rough and could harm my leopard gecko, but they are actually quite soft and have no sharp grains. This stuff is so comfortable that my leopard gecko loves to lie in it. He used to sleep mostly in his cave when he was on aspen, but since I've started using this stuff more often, he sleeps outside more than in the cave. He also likes to play with the stuff. There is no end to the mess he creates. I do not give him straight access to loose substrate to avoid impaction, as I do for all loose substrate. Mostly I feed him crickets by hand, but sometimes he gets some in his mouth, but he poos it out right away. He gets worms and roaches in a shallow dish, and I put them in a shallow dish for him as well. If your lizard gets too much food, they can even become ill. Make sure your lizard gets enough water and heat. It is not recommended to place healthy lizards or juvenile lizards on loose substrates. The leopard gecko on the other hand, who unfortunately cannot see very well and always misses one or two times before getting a worm in her mouth, is on reptile carpet, otherwise she would be eating a lot more substrate than she would be eating. My feeling is that this is much better than aspen, because the grains are so much smaller. I think that if they ingest it, they won't have any ill effects. One problem I have at the moment is that my leopard gecko kicks it into his water dish and it stain However, other than that, this is a great substrate.
To keep my brass tumbler in good shape, I use it. As a result, the price is excellent. It is cheaper than the local pet store. A lizard is not my pet. I tumble once fired brass from the range using it as media. Compared to corn cob media, it is faster and more effective. Besides cleaning the insides of cases where corn cobs don't, it also makes them look better. The dust it creates is greater than that produced by corn cobs. (It's not a big deal). I still use the corn cob media to polish brass though, since the walnut media cleans but does not polish nearly It is good for use as a first step, then I can add resin to the corn cob media. I have even mixed the two of them which works well and saves time. I can use this stuff over and over again, I don't have to depress the cases beforehand. Tumble them first, don't press them. My favorite thing about using walnut is that I do not wear out the corn cob media very fast since most of my tumbling is done with it. Those are my experiences. On one of the reloading web sites, I found this tip. Along with this brand, there were a few others mentioned as well.
