There are bugs! This holds humidity pretty nicely too, and I've been buying it for a while
3/5

I initially tried it with my Ball Pythons and it worked well. I had just sanitized one of my tanks as I do every month, so I had to switch to a different brand. My fiance noticed several small bugs jumping around on the substrate shortly after we were taken to see the bug. I was a bit puzzled at first. Are isopods real? Are you ready for some tailgating? In this specific case, however, bugs are not supposed to be present in the product It was then that I remembered reading stories about people having had the same experience and realized that is what was mentioned in the stories. Even though I was 8 months pregnant, I was quite annoyed at having to clean out her 40 gallon and all the contents inside it from scratch again on the same day. It is strongly recommended that you freeze or bake the substrate, or even both, before using it. If you do not want to buy it, then just don't.

It is not for babies, it is for snakes
5/5

It is important to eliminate mite populations before they damage your scaley family members with mite killers or bed bug sprays. It is not recommended to put the plastic bag this cypres product is sold in inside of a crib, as it could pose a choking hazard to the baby. Also, please don't place the wood shavings in the crib. It is scratchy, so babies don't like it.

However, it is a marvelous substrate
5/5

This substrate is my favorite, even better than the coco chip you won't find in stores. This is a very easy to clean mat, which absorbs water and releases humidity very quickly. Feature a greater degree of mold resistance A mildew plant compared to a coco tree. My opinion is that this is one of the best substrates, and it also looks the best. The problem is. One thing about these two bags is that they are very small. Bags of 27Qt cost $8 less than I would like. It's cheaper to buy 16 quarts than 27 quarts. Sure, this seller's prices are a little above what I would pay, but the sub itself is fantastic.

Do not rush into anything
3/5

The mites in two of the bags caused me to stop using this substrate. Whether you are purchasing it or making your own, be sure to bake it for at least 40 minutes on a baking sheet I let it air dry for an hour to kill off any mites or foreign contaminants.

Having this bedding has so much of an impact on Ka's shed skin
5/5

This has helped him produce perfect heads and full snakeskins each time since we started using it. This is a big deal when you have grandchildren.

If you're going to use it as a corn snake, make sure it's dry first! In the absence of humidity, you will have 99% humidity
3/5

As a snakekeeper, I'm stuck in a strange spot where I might have to let my new snake roam undisturbed, but the humidity is unbearable. If you are attempting to use this on a corn snake, dry it first before using it on a ball python.

Cut to a fine point
4/5

There is a little too much fineness to this mulch for my tastes. In order to keep my red foot tortoise alive, Lady Boxsworth, I use coconut fiber as an absorbent. She has this difficulty getting around, so she has to take longer to get there.

I am disappointed
3/5

Although the directions said to buy 2 medium size, I ended up getting 2 small size - the directions were wrong . Had I gone to my hometown, I would have purchased 2 medium size for much cheaper. There was no way I could trust it. I am disappointed.
