To control the temperature, you'll need to connect this to a thermostat. I haven't let it heat up to see what temperature it reaches, but I'm confident it can reach at least 115 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prior to this purchase, I had a heat lamp for my leopard gecko, but I turned it off at night. I bought an under-the-tank heater for him to use at night as a source of heat. He sleeps on the heat spot every night, and I find him there every morning. He appears to be more energetic - I've never had a problem with burn marks or shattered glass, and I'm aware that heat on their stomach aids digestion. br>br>I've never had a problem with burn marks or shattered glass - It'll work like a charm if you simply follow the instructions.
So I bought this heat mat before for my leopard gecko and he loved it (he usually sleeps on it at night), and then I bought a ball python a few months after I got my leopard gecko, and he was on a 4w heater at the time, and I decided he wasn't getting enough warmth from it, so I decided to buy him one of these, and this is now my new favorite under tank heater. It works great, and it usually heats up to full capacity in 10 to 20 minutes. If you do decide to buy this, I would recommend getting a thermostat because this heater will quickly reach 120 degrees, which will burn your animal and cost you money at the vet.
Purchase a different product. I do not recommend this because it never worked for my enclosure and died after only a week of use, which I did not realize until after my pacman frog died from a lack of heat. br>br>I used to check it on a regular basis, but after my pacman became ill, I couldn't figure out what was wrong because the pad was turned on, but it was only heating the tank's glass, not the substrate. br>br>**I tried placing it on the side of the tank (outside), but it didn't work, so I switched to the bottom, despite the fact that this is not recommended. br>br>However, it only heated the pad's glass and plastic, not the substrate. br>br>As a last resort, I placed it on the inside of the tank, covered it with mesh to prevent moisture from causing a fire, and then topped it with the substrate. br>br>It worked and kept my pacman warm, and my pacman improved,br>br>until the pad died within a week. It kept the soil warm for three days after it died, so I bought a regular heating pad for humans and covered it with some no-water spray to keep it from getting wet, and it worked better and still works better than this did in one week.
how long ago was it? It still works and heats up perfectly. It's still firmly attached to the bottom of my aquarium. The glass hasn't cracked and I've had no problems with it; I highly recommend it!.
It's not heating up correctly. I purchased this after reading the reviews, and despite the fact that it is connected to one of your thermostats, even on low, it was heating the tank above it to 120 degrees F. Even with a repti carpet on top of it, it was still hitting that on LOW. I'm truly disappointed that I spent so much money on something that would harm my baby leopard gecko if I continued to use it. I honestly believed Zoo Med was superior to this. br>br>Your product does not live up to its claims, and if this is the standard for your products, I'm not sure I'll buy them again. br>br>I would not recommend it until the item is repaired and working properly.
I'm not sure if it's because of the zoomed thermostat I'm using or because of the mat. However, I have the thermostat set to 91 degrees Fahrenheit, and it only gets to about 84 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm considering returning it and replacing it with a ceramic heat emitter instead. I'm thinking of doing the heat emitter because it doesn't heat a large area. Is it the mat or the thermostat, anyone reading this? Thanks.
For years, we've used these to heat our lizard's tank, and they're much safer than bulbs.
The product works, but you'll need to order more to match the tank sizes listed on the website. The heater only heats up about half of the tank and has no effect on the temperature.
