In the battery compartment, there was supposed to be a plastic tab to pull out, but there wasn't one. To gauge the water temperature in my aquarium tanks, I use other products similar to this one. Considering the longer cable, I purchased this thermometer because it had a longer cable than the others I was considering. Despite this, I confirmed that the accuracy of the temperature measurement is nowhere near what it should be. I have found that this type of thermometer showed temperatures that were 2-3 degrees F lower than the temperature that I have measured with some of my more accurate thermometers. Based on my experiences, I can accept that the thermometers show 1-degrees F lower than what is actually occurring. It's okay to raise or lower the temperature 2 degrees, but the product I'm using for aquarium tanks has a range of 4 to 6 degrees above or below the actual temperature. There is no way to tell if this product always shows a difference in temperature of 4 to 6 degrees from the actual temperature, but I bought 2 of them at this time and both.

One of the first things I did when I received them was to test them simultaneously. One of the units was a full degree lower than the other, even though they were measuring the same thing. The same happened when I tried another item. Despite the 1 degree difference in temperature, I don't feel the need to return these (price and other convenience are excellent! The Quality Control team should be on the lookout for this.

A similar unit was on my shopping list locally, but this one is the same price as the local one and comes with two in a packet! Even just for that, it's a great deal! It worked right out of the box for both units. Unlike mine, mine already had batteries installed and was turned on, so I assumed that this was due to it being tested before shipping (and not returned). I didn't know what the suction cup was for, so I looked it up The carpet kept breaking at first, and it fell a few times, but after it acclimated to our home, it now sticks well and keeps its shape. The first one has been used in my daughter's 10g aquarium and the second will be used in my wife's nano shrimp aquarium. In terms of accuracy, I would say that it is close to accuracy when compared to actual aquarium temperatures. This is a great budget digital thermometer, and I recommend it to those looking for one.

Two of them are positioned in each end of my 75 gallon tank, and I noticed there is normally no odor. I suggest 8 or 9. Two items had broken LCDs upon delivery, one of which broke after a couple seconds when it was stuck to the fish tank with the suction cup. I lost the second thermometer because the suction cup failed to hold and it hit the stand. As well, both come already turned on, and they each come with a power button that does nothing when pushed. I was at least given a refund from Amazon, but don't squander your time with the company. They are also a few degrees off from the actual temperature.

Three separate readings with over 20 degrees of difference from each unit were recorded The wheel of temperatures will spin as soon as you push the button. (Wish I had taken video and photos 2) Do not purchase this awful product -- After I was fooled by the price, I bought a regular glass thermometer, and that was accurate and foolproof.
