The size of this item is roughly 3 inches by 1 inch. There is a right-sized, crystal clear display that can be easily read at a glance, but is not so large as to be obtrusive In my opinion, the instructions for reading it are written in a way that is difficult to understand at first. Basically, the temperature is shown in there is no green, then one of two things is likely to be happening. It may be that your water temperature is so far out of range that it does not register. When that happens, it is WAY too cold or too There is a temperature somewhere between the tan line and the blue line. The next time my tank is upgraded, I will definitely get another one.

My tanks have been fitted with an array of thermometers over the years, and this one is the most accurate, readable and troublefree one I've found. When they do their job, which this does, they are free. It's better to spend money on quality items than cheap ones. The fact that it's a small clean design in F* only and that's it's accurate also appeals to me. However, I would have preferred that it went a little higher than *82, but with the tank it's on, it shouldn't be an issue.

Following reading many reviews of several types of thermometers, I decided to purchase this Thermometer. $4 was the price I paid for this. Currently, it is 99 and so far so good. The result is quick and easy to read. We are very happy with our overall experience. Our starter tank will be great with these!.

There is a lot of error in this thermometer. My tank is plastic, so I don't know whether it's part of the plastic or if the thermometer I received is defective. It tends to read around 68 degrees as it usually does. During most of the time, the thermometers in the tank registered 70 degrees, but other thermometers read 78 degrees, and it was 78 degrees when the heater was set.

A little over 6 gal, so not that big. The thermometer is easy to use and does not look obtrusive at all, not to mention that it does its job nicely. There are about 3 of them. The 5" long ones at the big box stores are far bigger than the smaller xl sizes.
