Questions & Answers

A 20 gallon long aquarium is what I am interested in purchasing. There are 30x1/4 inches of surface area and 12x1/2 inches of depth. I noticed that the hood on Amazon says 30 and 12 which means that my tank is a quarter inch too long and a half inch too wide. My question is does the hood fit or is it exactly 30x12 and not large Please help in any way you can! Thanks a lot! ?

two 20 Gallon aquariums, one of which is long (30" x 12") and one of which is tall (24" x Marineland supplied me with a hood for the tall aquarium, which I bought as a kit. It is great to have a light on the hood. This light allows me to get a great illumination of the aquarium, and I have a lot of live plants in it. I decided to purchase another Marineland hood to use over my long aquarium when it came time to set it up. There are no differences in light bars between the 24" and 30" hoods, which was very disappointing to me. The long aquarium doesn't work with this setup at all. We do not have enough lighting in the corners and sides. There is soil in this aquarium and I place some live plants there, but they have to be kept in the center. A lot of light is not necessary or desirable in your aquarium to make use of this hood.

The tank will it fit in a 55 gallon vessel?

Specifically, the 24x12 fits my 20 gallon tank, you will need to measure the height of your tank to determine fit.

Twenty inches by ten inches is how my tank is sized. The tank is 5", will this fit it? Or is the tank dim too big?

The tank in my house holds 20 gallons. The dimensions of this piece are 25 x 10 inches. I had a 10 gallon container that was 5" tall, but this did not fit.

How well does this light (freshwater) meet the needs of living plants?

You'll need a plant light, which you can put into the hood, to make this work for some plants. A better option would be to use it. It should be possible to find the right bulb for plants when the bulb burns out. So to answer your question, the light is not suitable for plants, but a simple fix does the job.

It has a great lid and lighting
5/5

There is nothing I love more than I like the quality of the product and the design is very appealing. It is awesome how the led lighting works. During the day, the daytime feature gives off brilliant light results, while the night time feature provides a calming subtle blue glow. According to an article I read, it is supposed to mock the There is only one thing about this lid I would change, and that is adding a small hinged door so the tank can be accessed without having to open the entire In the current state, the only way to open the lid to feed the fish or access the tank is with a back hinge. This means your light is lost if the whole assembly opens. I find it frustrating when I need to see what I'm doing and I need that light. It isn't going to stop you from doing what you need to do. A couple of heavy duty clips are used to secure the lid in place to the back of the tank. The hood pops into place on these clips once the clips are on the back of the tank, creating a HINGED opening that is SECURE. It is a plus that condensation inside the hood drips into the tank when the lid is opened for maintenance, unlike other lids that require you to physically remove the hood and place somewhere out of the way, those drip everywhere until you make a towel out of paper towels. This is a great, high quality product that I would buy again (and I have in fact bought two of them for.

Choosing a different hood will help you distinguish it
3/5

Keep your tank dry or don't put water in it. A second aquarium lid might be a good idea if you can afford it. While this lid appears to be great, there are a few issues with it. It has the same issue on three of my experiences with it (I've owned three). A couple of minor things need to be addressed before attaching the hood to your aquarium first, the small plastic connectors are not easy to attach and can easily break (which is why there are LED lights produce nice, bright light, which works well for an aquarium with plants, and the blue light is highly efficient and beautiful at Within a couple of weeks, however, the lights ceased to work. Their water content is not the same as ours The switches were never directly exposed to water, so they were resistant in any sense of the word, but just having them close to an aquarium caused them to rust off and cease operating. Although the lights are essentially still operable, the switch to turn them on does not function any more. It costs around $35 to replace a LED strip. When you buy a hood for $99. you'll quickly be left with nothing but the hood.

They are a great light source for the tank and bring out a lot of light
3/5

I think the moonlight option is a little too bright (even so, it is still beautiful) but I still like the way it lights the tank. In less than two weeks of use, the switch has already broken. In the hood, water vapors can get into the light by way of a translucent cover, but this cannot keep the light out of the water. My guess is that it has corroded or broken the LED switch in another way. The fact that something literally designed to operate over water is susceptible to water vapor is an unexpected discovery for me. Furthermore, I was not happy with the layout for the filter, which consists of only one location. Either knock or kick would have been better for me There's a possibility I can put the filter in another area of the tank with a cutout or an insert. My guess is that I won't be using the switch thing. Buying something that is going to fall apart after only two weeks is not worth it.

A 20 gallon long aquarium cover is probably the best option for it
5/5

The 20 gallon long Aqueon tank I bought this for. Exactly what I needed. The pros are I appreciate the quality of the They maintain a low profile and are There is a lot of light. The tank seems to have new brighter LEDs that are 25% brighter and light up the tank well as well as seem bright enough It looks a bit like a robot, with two lights.
+ The cover is separate from the light module. It has a removable cover that is handy for feeding your fish if you do not want to open the top every time you feed them. I. - I don't like how cheap the clips look. In addition, two spares are included by Marineland as a precaution. I. - It is made from thin If I had to drop it, I wouldn't. It's - Apparently the plug will be exposed to residual moisture coming off the tank due to its location. If I wanted a moisture barrier, I would use some dielectric grease or possibly glue gun it if I had access to a glue gun. I. - A clip at the top of the aquarium light allows it to clip into the holder. The part integrates with the hood when it is opened vertically, but if it is opened more than vertically, it is at risk of falling The purchase was an overall good one for me.
